had office resign. postie signs for round and gets it. finds out later it's a bugger of a round gets doc note saying he can't do it but can only do job he's on previously it's a easy light rural. dom says ok. other posts gets taken off the easy rural ( he signed for it )and gets put on bugger of round. he gets then offered other vacant rural delivery as sort of compo. other people in office have doc notes saying cant do lapsing cos of knee pain but still do full delivery.any views on this

There are a small number of these lazy employees in most offices management either can't or won't stand up to them they should be told this is the job if you can't do it find a job you can do these people take the p*** out of the rest of the staff and it causes bad feelings and some decide if he can get away with it I'll join him and go down the same route only way it will stop is strong managers not letting them get away with it

the question is WHY are there uneven duties still ? if that duty is so much easier then this needs to be looked at.

we have one or two on easy duties who take the p1ss, get back to the office an hour after their finishing time and book overtime for it to make the round look hard. DOM doesn't do anything about it

What does the rep say? What do the rest of the members say? There is a process for reasonable adjustments which has to involve OH, their recommendations coupled with the doctor's opinion are what drives these reasonable adjustments. Has this process been followed? If it has you should accept it, the process is there to protect us all, If it hasn't rather than moaning on here you should be asking questions of your rep, manager and the members in your office for accepting the situation.

What you shouldn't be doing is slagging someone off while hiding behind a keyboard whether they're "swinging the lead" or not because apart from it being a coward's move you're going to achieve the square root of f**k all.

There has to be accountability for ones decisions though, postie picked a duty, just because they don't like it shouldn't be they land back on the duty they did before with no consideration for anyone else.

Why couldn't reasonable adjustments be made to the duty they picked?

So, would it be better or worse if they ran round and finished an hour early? I'm saying the same because either way it's costing the business an hrs pay.

Where I work it's not a case of getting an easier duty the senior duties have better hours for example staff like the night shifts that finish at 6am where some finish at 9-10am so a very small minority use the ohs to get the better hours that their seniority wouldn't get which the rest of the workforce resents, usually going on sick with depression seems to work so management takes the easy option and gives in
