removal of office rep

If an office union rep is doing a poor job is there a procedure to remove him or does he have to serve his time

You need to get the rest of your office to send a letter of no confidence to your local branch sec and ask him to remove the said turd, but make sure you put why he is inept and needs removing.
If it's anything like our region the branch sec will ignore it, then send it to the said rep with a nice sarcastic remark along the lines of "You should frame it".

First you need someone willing to take on the role.

If you don't all he does is stand again and then gets elected unopposed.

Ideally, if someone is willing then they will need at least 50% of those voting backing them. and someone willing to second them for the ballot. That's if they decide to run at the next election.

Yes, but you need more detail about "why he is inept and needs removing" than that he's a "turd".

And if the Branch Sec is also the office rep what then?

It is possible to remove a rep through a vote of no confidence, however the rules governing it may vary from branch to branch.
If the branch is proving difficult/obstructive then Wimbledon may be of some assistance.

I think it only fair a rep should have the right of reply to any vote of no confidence but at the same time any rep with any interest in trade unionism would realise their position is untenable without the support of the members.

Ipso facto ( I think) , most Reps are in an untenable position
