Leaving

Well after 27 years at RM, I've decided to leave and retire early. I've been at RM for half of my life and TBH I've had a guts full. As Harold Steptoe says, we've saved enough conkers to wait for our 60 pension, so thats what we've decided to do.

I know there are exciting times ahead, but now I'm not rep, I've just not got the get up and go any more, so I'm getting out while I'm still fittish.

I'll still be on here for a while, can't break a daily habit just like that

Got any plans for your retirement, travelling and the like?

Good luck trythat sure after 27 years you will enjoy your retirement, i got VR just over 2 years ago after 28 years and decided to take the money and run

Very similar just one more day or more, have you changed your mind we need you now. all these texts phone calls when they are in the s**t. Fuckem used to be a nice job for people who you would work for and do anything for but not now my heart has changed and the head to go with it!

I am sure you wont regret it,I left a while ago after 19 years on delivery and it was the best decision ever. Like you I had had enough,dont get me wrong the posties were great and so was the banter,it was the way the job had become and the appalling way we were spoken to and treated by the so called managers.Not even a thankyou when I left.Good luck,and enjoy your freedom.

Thanks everyone, I can almost stay awake all day now

Starting to get back into computers again, I can now watch tutorials and understand and remember what I'm learning. I just didn't realise how shagged out I was each day, my concentration really did suffer from being tired all the time.

Think it will take a couple of months to really take in that I don't have to go to work each day and of course I won't miss the Christmas 6 weeks, I hated Christmas!

I'm between a rock & a hard place. Possible opportunity to get a 9-5 Monday-Friday. No Saturday work. Slight decrease in pay but definitely not as difficult a job in terms of physicality & mental abuse by unqualified management. Should I stay or should I go!?

No, can't remember the last time we had VR, it has been mentioned but never followed through. We have been short staffed for years now, people leave on IHR sometimes. As I said, I'd had a guts full after 27 years on delivery, I don't agree with anything RM are proposing, so gave my notice in on the first day of my rota week and am now finished with RM, just waiting for all the paper work to start arriving.

One tip I can pass on that neither me or DOM knew about is if you are on rota weeks (1 in 6) or Wallingtons, the Last Day Of Service (LDOS) needs to be the Sunday rather than the Saturday you actually finish e.g. my LDOS was 19/08/2017, and that is what my DOM told HR, but I was only paid my outstanding leave that week, whereas I should of had outstanding leave + my rota week, apparently that pile of poo PSP as usual with RM bought in tech can't accept the Saturday as LDOS, but it will work if you enter Sunday 20/08/2017 (Well I'll find out this week, hopefully that I'll get mt last weeks pay this week. Hope the above makes sense, but this is only if you do Wallington weeks.

If i was you and i know i could live of the pay for the new job comfortably i would leave in a shot. I am only in my early 30s and my body already feels like im 60
