Still on bikes and never revised

I work in an office stuck in the past. One that's hidden away, and forgotten about.

There are fifteen deliveries. We have two vans for very rural areas, one for oversized parcels, and approximately half of the remaining are done using bikes, the other are done using private cars.

We don't do lapsing and we, in reality, still operate on a job/finish mentality.

The last re-pick was twelve years ago.

There is no local rep.

Just wondering how uncommon this is?

Are there many others out there in similar circumstances? Or is this exceptional?

Do you look at some of these topics too, with their park n loops, and their lapsing, and their re-picks, and think, wow - we really are stuck in the past?

How long do you think dinosaur offices like mine will continue?

How do you deliver on a bike? Do you use it to transport pouches, park the bike and then deliver from said pouches?

So you've had no revisions or involvement from walk planners etc and your duties have remained unchanged for at least 12 years?

That said, there are 3 duties that did not merge with our office and I believe that they still operate from the back of a Post Office. They still use post bikes and don't have any daft things going on like Work, Time Learning, unnecessary lapsing or silly huddles. Its just sod's law that bigger offices always get the hardest hit when it comes to Royal Mail making changes.

Wow, such a response but nobody else pickled and preserved as well as us, eh?

Some use the bike as if it were a trolley, riding and pushing it along to each drive or door. It's great to have lots of little sit-downs.

Others do small loops from it.

Bags are replenished using pouch boxes.

There were some planners three years ago, but they sort of just faded away.

The delivery routes are pretty much unchanged since they were plotted around twelve years ago.

Everyone is sort of, just happy with what they've got, hence no re-pick.

That's a funny picture. But we don't see it ahead.

We only do one delivery a day. Not sure if that's a joke so I'll answer it seriously :)

Those using private cars would say that they do have business insurance. But the sticky leads one to believe that it doesn't matter.

I suppose I'm interested in hearing of others stuck in the past, if there are any.

And how long this could potentially continue?

im amazed its lasted this long, but a small office maybe theyve crunched the numbers and seen no upside (and possible loss) to changing if everyone is happy as is.
