It's good to get these types of threads, the ridiculous my manager said bollox, so we can reassure ourselves that while the world is falling apart, Royal Mail managers are still being the low-life C***S they have always been.

The daily grind of having to argue your case with an intellectual pigmy of a line manager is physically and emotionally draining.

Isn't "Letter out for Membership Check 16th August 2017, Information Returned By 30th August 2017" something new this time ?
And will all those members who don't get round to returning the membership check information be ineligible to vote thus significantly reducing not only the turnout but also the effectiveness of the 'yes' vote ? :arrrghhh

I believe the membership check letter goes to branches to check local membership lists for accuracy.

Yes, it will be for the CWU Branches, working with local reps, to ensure that membership details, including addresses are up to date.
If they aren't it leaves the ballot result open to legal action by the employer, to possibly prevent any IA.

It's going to be difficult to get a legal ballot.

Shedend, Baldrick,
Thanks for that clarification.
I had just feared that the CWU faced another obstacle.

I suggest that a low turnout with 29% of the workforce voting for industrial action would be satisfactory, 29% being the percentage of the electorate that voted Conservative at the last general election, but I expect it will be a clear majority maybe doubling that 29%. :thumbup

The closer the strikes are to Christmas the better, puts a lot more pressure on moya and the rest

But then RM will use delaying tactics for three months and strikes starting in the new year will have little effect.

The CWU is already on life-support. If they balls this up they are pretty much done and they know it.

When was that then?
The societies of consumption and squandering of material resources are incompatible with the idea of economic growth and a clean planet.
