Special leave
My daughter has suffered from birth with respiratory problems, and having just been seen at addenbrookes hospital have been told she needs to go to London forms day op andnthen back to addenbrookes for an overnight stay with op in early morning. My question is am I entitled to any kind of special leave, as usually I swap my days off for local hospital appointments. Thanks.

In those most unfortunate circumstances you should get Special Leave but probably not Paid Special Leave.

You would almost certainly be entitled to parental leave ( and given your child's medical history it would be an idea to apply for it)
It is unpaid I believe but the most important thing will be that you could be with your child
