Working whilst on leave

Is there any rules regarding working whilst on leave ?
Bloke in my office has booked a fortnight off, so far worked 2 days as overtime. Why should he forgo someone else from booking these weeks themselves ?

Yes. It's ghosting.

Your Rep should be informed and then your DOM could well be in trouble.

And the OPG could also be in hot water.

Happens in our office. It's fraud, and if you try to input the OT into PSP while he is also AL, it flags as invalid. DOM could get in big trouble.

It scunners me big time when someone books a block of leave and works most of it to the detriment of someone else who could have used that week for themselves. Selfish, selfish, selfish.

Happens all the time regrettably, they just bypass the system by saying you're entitled to a day off,so that's what it's put down as. Otherwise you wouldn't get paid the overtime. Fair point about other people could have had the week off.

Am guilty of doing it myself in the past, although if someone specifically needed that week, then i would be inclined to swap, or work any day's that they need off.

If all is fair in the workplace, and no complaints regarding said week, i applaud the guy who work's it, and take's more than he's due.

My going rate was no less than 10 hours working my normal start and finish.

Taking Leave

Employees may not attend the office whilst on annual or other leave. This means that employees may not attend the office to work overtime or Scheduled Attendance.

The Way Forward Agreement p.20

As tp people working "their day off" during their annual leave I can only say I have never seen such a twisted misinterpretation of a national agreement.

that's what they've started doing in our office. apparently the rep informed DOM that it was no longer permitted for people to work A/L, as people did so on a regular basis, working their full allotted A/L. so now the management has responded with ''people can attend for work, on their allotted day off during their A/L''......shameful imo.

this practice absolutely boils my effing piss!
we have a boat load in our d/o who cannot book a single day off never mind the 15+ days carried over from previous years, then some pillocks work premium weeks when they booked them off

i even threatened a manager once after been refused a specific week off that if i saw 1 body working that week who should be on annual leave i'd report it,
funny how he then granted me the leave

it still carries on today, a few who when in 6wks school holidays are working now! selfish bas****rds!

I agree wholeheartedly,I do wonder what's the point in having all these agreements if they're just get ridden over roughshod. It's all down to failure to recruit and probably retain staff. There's always someone willing to break the agreements. There is supposed to be an anti bullying culture as well,judging by the posts on here,that ain't going so well either.

That's useful.
So if ever I was off on sick leave I would not be able to attend the office for an interview.

I wouldn't have a manager in my house so it would have to be a phone interview.

Imagine working all year and instead of looking forward to your annual leave and a week in Mauritius with the family the best way you can spend it is doing park and loop. Never known such pathetic behaviour.

at my office I told the manager that this is not permitted ...... way forward agreement Etc

next thing is they, DOM and Postmen tried to get me sacked ....... ended up with dom dismissed and 2 postmen ..... the IB bloke who investigated said that 6-8 could be dismissed for working during there holidays and doing SA whilst on leave amongst other very dodgy practice
being paid twice is fraud ... simple as

oh and the DSM who backed his manager in trying to dismiss the whistle blower (me) also got chopped

if this carries on in your office ..... you !...... phone your area rep and complain ..... get them to do there job and stop this fraud

Can anyone clarify this; a workmate owes me a day that I worked for him, can said workmate work said day for me whilst they are on annual leave?
