Frontline colleagues from across the country have been presented with brand new Ford Fiestas as a reward for exemplary attendance records.

The 11 lucky winners were drawn from all Royal Mail, Parcelforce and RMSS colleagues without sick or unauthorised absence between 19 December last year and 23 April.

Paul Cosgrave, a postman at Cheltenham delivery office, picked up the keys to his Ford Fiesta on 11 July.

‘I was in total shock when I found out. Things like this are once in a lifetime,’ he said. ‘I’ve never won anything before, not even a raffle.

‘The new car will make a massive difference to our family.

‘It’s an amazing gesture and it’s created a buzz around the delivery office. I take pride in my duties and an incentive like this makes me feel like all the hard work and effort is worth it.’

Sue Whalley, chief operations officer and managing director RML&N, said: ‘As a business, it’s important that we reduce sick absence as much as possible.

‘It can directly affect our efficiency and quality of service, and place increased pressure on other colleagues.

‘I want to congratulate the winners and thank them for their superb attendance throughout the competition window.

‘Many of you have a great attendance record. Some have perfect records which stretch over many years.

‘Thank you for helping to contribute towards our success as a business.’
