Taken from an email sent by the event organisors

Thursday's Race Directors Ramblings

It is inevitable with race organisation that we have to do some last minute problem-solving. We however did not plan for well over 200 race packs failing to arrive with our runners, some 9 days after posting. Experience tells us to work on 1%, or around 30.

We are on it,(sleep is for wimps) we have a solution in place and wont let this detract from 12 months hard work from many people to make this a great race for you all. Apologies to those of you affected.Views about failings in the postal service will be kept personal!

something tells me this is NOT a RM problem, i mean its possible but lets face it, the mail is going to get to the right address 99.99% of the time providing its been paid correctly and the address is correct on the package, to have such a high number of problems from one place suggests they did something wrong rather than RM

They where sent via whistl through DSA..

Ultimately the buck will fall with Royal Mail.. even if there had of been a problem you would think 9 days is enough to get the items to the recipients

Sadly I think this is more a state of our once great organisation.. Royal mails race to the bottom

I have worked for the business for 28 years and have never known the customer to be less important than it is now

The customer is the sender now not the receiver at any rate I agree with you and it's piss poor service not because of the worker but management ineptitude and targets and no balls to say they cannot manage it what the f**k do they get paid for!

The customer is of course the sender.
They pay the money and it is their item until handed over.

yeah and i also see poorly addressed mail every day, whether its the wrong address or labels peeling off... not saying it wasnt RM fauly but it seems weird that so much missing from 1 place. 9+ days is over and above the norm even when RM is in as bad shape as it is.

Total bollox we've all seen them, they probably posted out a load of envelopes with just the name on and either half or no address or return address or anything then blamed us when they didn't arrive !

Did they ever enter RM's system?
