Take your CAPS LOCK off! Unless you are shouting!
I have to agree with one part. The bit about the sort of answer he expected.
Instead of shooting the guy down, and start the petty name calling, tell him why like me you will be voting no.
As a driver, I don't have a lot to lose, but I know a lot who do. They are in the union and if that ballot returns a yes, then we will see what happens. Regarding the 30mins "Bank Time", do you honestly believe that the managers will give you that when YOU want? It is bad enough trying to get days in lieu never mind this ridiculous idea of flexi-time. There are so many strings to this we might as well be puppets!

Here are two extracts from the agreement which will clarify the situation for you.
* Longs and shorts - a structural change where the normal work pattern may be rebalanced across the week to reflect the traffic profile. For example individuals could be scheduled to work 7 hours on a Tuesday and 9 hours on a Friday. Total weekly contractual hours would not change.
* Variation of hours - Where necessary, for example when traffic volumes are unexpectedly high or resourcing issues arise, individuals may be asked and may themselves request to vary their duty times by up to 30 minutes on a swings and roundabouts basis. Again, individual circumsatances will be taken into account and total weekly contractual hours would not change.
Had you somehow missed the paragraph above the one you seem to be fixated on?
As for the money: Do you really think that we would have Striked for so long, just to get more money?!?
Don't you realise how long it will take for us to recoup that money?
You also fail to appreciate that the deal was made in secrecy (apart from a few leaks), and that we are now expected to decide wether we agree that it is a good deal or not.
There is also the fact that there is a certain amount of disinformation going round in an attempt to trick us into a yes vote. I have dealt with one above.
I don't know wether you were taken in by the disinformation, or wether you are deliberately peddling it. BUT EVERYONE MUST STUDY THE AGREEMENT THOROUGHLY BEFORE VOTING.
If People do read the agreement thoroughly, and still decide to vote yes. Then that is fine, and no-one should criticise them for that. After all, the Union is a Democracy, and as such EVERYONE is entitled to their opinion, and a chance to vote whichever way they feel is right.
The problem comes, when people just read breakdowns of the agreement, or listen to word of mouth, without checking their facts. There are many strong views on it, and I have expressed mine too. But this should only be a means to draw people's attention to parts of the agreement, and our views of them. It is up to everyone to read it properly and make their own minds up.
Personally I will be voting NO, but it's a decision that everyone must make for themselves.

i don't agree with the deal at all but the sad truth of the matter he is probably right, that it will be accepted and it will be like that bloody way forward everyone moaned about that, but it's in and everyone work's around it and to their advantage most of the time, most will just see the money aspect of the deal and nothing else
hope i'm wrong but i can see it going through, and whilst we are on the subject why haven't we heard anything from the union about a ballot timetable, we have had nothing at our office no communication from the branch, not a thing

OBVIOUSLY THIS IS SET OUT FOR DELIVERIES. NOW ASK YOURSELF, DO YOU WORK 7 HOURS ON TUESDAY??? IF SO YOU'VE GOT A BLOODY GOOD WALK. IF YOU WERE PUT ON 7 HOURS TUESDAY,MOST PEOPLE WOULDNT BE ABLE TO COMPLETE THEREFORE ITS SOMETHING YOUR DOM WOULDNT DO OR HE'D HAVE TO SEND ALL HIS MANAGERS OUT ON WALKS THAT CANT COMPLETE.
ALL WE HAVE TO DO IS THE JOB CORRECTLY AND THIS SO CALLED LONG AND SHORTS WILL NEVER HAPPEN. UNFORTUNATELY THOUGH THIS WONT HAPPEN AND WE WOULD HAVE THE SAME OLD "IM LOOKING AFTER MYSELF" BRIGADE WHO ARE RUINING THE JOB. THATS THE MAIN PROBLEM HERE,CERTAIN POSTPERSONS WONT LISTEN AND FOR THE SAKE OF JUST WORKING THE TIME YOU GET PAID FOR,THEY ARE RUINING THE JOB FOR THE REST OF US WHO DO THE JOB CORRECTLY.

this deal is s**t and if it comes in we are all in for a s**t time from royl mail, but unfortunately most of the workers wont even bother reading the deal, they will just agree yes, because they are probably sick of the whole thing...
people have to read this deal and the s**t it involves but it probably will be brought in,and then those that signed it in,without reading it,will probably be the ones most shocked at the way they will be getting turned over by management, and there wont be anything they can do about it..

That's what worries me too!
That's the problem. We should be trying to get EVERYONE to read it properly. There is too much emphasis on individual items, and very few people seem to have read it properly. That was how "the way forward" got voted in!meweavy wrote:this deal is s**t and if it comes in we are all in for a s**t time from royl mail, but unfortunately most of the workers wont even bother reading the deal, they will just agree yes, because they are probably sick of the whole thing...
