sLIP IN WORK NOT REPORTED ON SAME DAY

Hi,
I had aslip in work and damaged tendons in Knee.
This happened over 7 weeks ago and have been off sick since.I have been in contoct with office every week to keep them updated and even been in to see DOM.
They have offered me no support or been in contact with me.
I have been informed today it has not been reorted as accident in work as I did not reort it on same day.
The slip happened on a Wed and it was not painful just got on with job.I was off on the THur went to work Friday and my knee was painful and swelling by end of shift it was hurting.Next day Sat went to work knee was like Melon and really painful,did not stay in work went to hospital.Went back to work on Sat to leave details of accident and photos,adress etc.On Monday then phoned line manager to make sure he had all details he said yes.
Wot is the procedure for reporting accident and should somebody told me this in all the times I have visited/contacted work.

all accidents, slips trips must be reported within 24 hours - I tell people this all the time

Report it because even though it seems fine now it may not in the future and without it being reported within time you are screwed - as you are now unfortunately finding out

In particular with regard to the above regulation:

1. The accident book or equivalent must be readily accessible.
2. It is a matter for the employee, not the employer or any one acting on behalf of the employer, whether an entry is made in the accident book or
equivalent.
3. There is no restriction on the nature and type of accident and injury that can be entered into an accident book or equivalent. It is for the employee
to determine whether or not they have sustained a personal injury and whether they have been involved in accident.
4. There is no restriction on the time within which an accident has to have occurred in order for an employee to make a record in the accident book
or equivalent. Regulation 25(3)(b) implicitly recognises that an entry may be made in an accident book at some point after the accident occurred.

while all the above is true reporting and recording are two different things

It has to be reported within 24 hours so that it can be investigated while the conditions are as near to those when the accident happened as possible, and things like footwear, clothing and weather conditions can be assessed to see if they contributed to the accident.

You can record the accident any time BUT you must report it within 24 hours and they freely admit they didn't - 'The slip happened on a Wed and it was not painful just got on with job.'

thanks for reply,but should have somebody told me this when I first reported it.Sat.line manager.

My main concern is that I have had no support from my bosses.No letters or phone calls or to tell me its not classed as work accident.

My union rep is now checking that it has been reported correctly and also the photos and details of the accident has been put in walk book and others are made aware.
I was also not aware of this procedure.(been employed 3.5 yrs) .Could not find anything on RM
procedures,could you point me in the correct direction.

Im not looking for blame,i just want the help and support (not nice stuck home with mrs and kids lol)and also make sure all staff are aware of the procedures.
Also had problems opening files,ill try another file.
