Just wonder when the union are goinf to address the companys part timers being made up? 7 years in only 30 hours a week always worked full time

Never know anything like it... Union its time to choose.... We want to protect full time jobs ya not doing a very good job now......

It takes that much inc personnel time & effort at local level then to be shafted by those affected not sticking together.

Sadly area & ultimately hq offer little to no support!!
It's no wonder they want to do away with them

Luckily I got made up last year but not without a long fight.

Seriously though the union need to sort this out. What is the point of fighting for our terms and conditions, etc if right now the union are not reinforcing things like the agenda for growth?

It will just end up the same, new agreements agreed but not reinforced. Part timers continuing to do lots of overtime for the managers hoping that the managers will say yeah we will up your contracted hours because you guys have helped us a lot so you deserve it.

Is it any wonder why new part timers don't want to join the union?

Absolute joke and yet the union are taking our fees each week pretending they give a s**t about the part time workforce. Do the job properly lads they tell us so people do the job properly hundreds of hoirs come out the office each week and do people get made up????

Doing the job properly or not doesn't mean anything in this case where part timers are asked to work more hours than their contract.

I mean in my office, most of the part timers on below 25hrs are asked all the time to work their days off, or days that they are not contracted to do. They do extra overtime, afternoons etc just to bump up their pay to what we get and just a bit more.

People keep, mentioning get a rep or whoever to look into it. They do but not with much urgency. You can try ask the union over and over again and still the same "its not upto us its upto Rm." Right so basically the Agenda for growth is a lot of bs, just an agreement Rm and the union can say well its down on paper so you should thank us for it.

Yes the union has done a lot for us, but please can they reinforce agreements, help the thousands of part timers out there being used like nothing just because they need the money to live.

Should a full time vacancy come up, it would be offered on seniority. So, someone 8 years in and never worked a minutes overtime would get made up, if they wanted it, before you.

It's a tough one. Part timers tend to need to money so work overtime, but in doing so they reduce the chances of contracted hours being increased.

Yes, the union should be doing more. When lots of overtime is being worked there is clearly the need for permanent hours to be brought in.

What I don't get with all you part timers and no disrespect to you all
But when you applied for the job you all knew it was p/t so why all the when are we going to be made f/t malarkey.
Surely you would have applied for a full time job somewhere.
I get you are working f/t hours but that's your own choices for whatever reason the company can't force you to do so
So it's all for your own financial circumstances.
But good luck I hope thw union do get more f/t staff posts

Because if you need a job and 25 hrs or whatever is what's on offer and you need to feed the kids/pay the bills then you take it!!!!

But then you find out that you are regularly (if not permanently) asked to work up to 39 hrs and want to work 39 hrs but
RM won't offer you F/T.

Oh for the luxury of 'applying for a full time job somewhere'!!!

exactly why this job is down the tubes with post,s like your,s me and only me feck pt,s very sad. People don,t work for fun ffs they of course work xtra hours for financial gain who works extra hours just for the sake of it...

Is it any wonder theres a divide amongst us. So much for sticking together and helping each other! Might as well be every man for himself but obviously their are already many selfish colleagues out their who couldn't give a crap about other colleagues, well done. Lets roll on shafting each other and save RM the job of doing it.

But if nearly all part timers work 39 hours a week on a 25 hour contract week after week after week what incentive does Royal Mail have for making them up full time ?
