Proposal of longs and shorts in our do

Proposing a 8.30 start on a Tuesday and a 6.40 start weds,Thurs,Friday. SO taking an hour off Tuesday and putting 20 minutes in on the other days.This is just after the revision in which all early sorting and schedule attendance had been cut to zero.

Like to hear your views and pros and cons from delivery offices where this has occurred.

I think this is a slippery slope but this is royal mail after all

Not in our DO, never heard of this proposal yet ? We can not get enough staff to do early sorting on OT....

Yes they've trialled at ours , earlier starts and longer W/T/F , shorter M & T. All that happened was the hours were taken to manage work flow and no one had time for lapsing = managers running round trying to give extra work to people that had no time to do it.

What are all your start and finish time Monday-Saturday?

We have a 7.30 start on a Tuesday.
And last week on this day they introduced 7 lapse walks.

Was on leave last week so only had a quick looksee this morning.
Looks like basically half a line extra per duty, so maybe 70 calls each.
Can't see it getting done as out late on a Tuesday as it is.
Couldn't give a toss, will just take it out and book over if needs be.
They're using the extra staff as cover for sick or sending to other offices.
Was asked this morning if I would swap my day off this week from Thursday to tomorrow.
No dice.

if your booking over, then, there is no argument to lapse, you do not have the time!!!

Doesn't seem to matter to dim.
I reckon it's just a paper exercise to make him look good.
He will probably bank hours and use when he needs them.
A few people booking over isn't going to worry him.
With lapsing I always offer to take it with the proviso it might take me over.
That way the lino has nowhere to go- he either agrees to this or I don't take it.

we have longs and shorts and it was meant to be brought in to do away with lapse/flex.

Lapsing is RM's new baby.
It is here to stay.
It's up to us to "manage" it imo.
If they want to pay me to do it- fine.
The fact the guy they have taken off will most probably be doing less work than they would normally do I couldn't give a monkey's about.
To me it's just bad time management and not my problem.

Thought this was a common concept. Had them in our MPU for a few years, although not to such a varying degree.
