Confused about meal relief from what I hear on here and the government website, 40 mins break, now can you still take say 20 mins after u tie down ur walk before u go out for delivery
then halfway through ur walk take the other 20 mins? its just im confused because on the government website for breaks it says all breaks must be taken in one go, so if that's the case how can u be allowed to split the break 20 +20 or is it just standard 40?

It's good to get these types of threads, the ridiculous my manager said bollox, so we can reassure ourselves that while the world is falling apart, Royal Mail managers are still being the low-life C***S they have always been.

The daily grind of having to argue your case with an intellectual pigmy of a line manager is physically and emotionally draining.

In simple language, only the statutory break is governed by law and that's what stipulates an unbroken break of 20 minutes if working 6 hours or more. The extra 20 minutes (or however much it is) is a contractual break and therefore different rules apply. Ours are agreed with the CWU so, as per Postman's link, we can split them.postman2030 wrote:Confused about meal relief from what I hear on here and the government website, 40 mins break, now can you still take say 20 mins after u tie down ur walk before u go out for delivery

So in simple terms to my question, are you saying yes I can do 20/20? rather than full 40 in the morning?

Your meal relief is scheduled.postman2030 wrote:So in simple terms to my question, are you saying yes I can do 20/20? rather than full 40 in the morning?
If your office has voted to take the full 40 prior to delivery then you can't decide to split it 20/20.
The timing/split of the meal relief isn't a matter of personal choice. It is a matter of collective bargaining.
The societies of consumption and squandering of material resources are incompatible with the idea of economic growth and a clean planet.

well there are people in our office who don't take their bate and add the full 40 mins on the back off the duty in order to finish early (union know) and the guys in the callers get the full 40 mins, whereas everybody else is 20/20.
