why does it feel like Royal Mail is a utter shambles at the min ? Lack of staff, 6 day lapsing in our office, managers trying to pressure those who are easily swayed to taking lapsing, the mess with the pensions and 4 pillars ....

Probably because it is!!
I thought our office was the only one that had such problems, but after reading many recent post on this forum, it seems nearly every office is the same!!!

All offices are like this now aren't they?

We have always been run by idiots but sadly we now seem to be run by a new kind of super idiot. RM seem particularly keen on super idiot linos that have never been on deliveries and have never delivered a letter. I am sure there's some logic in it somewhere? Perhaps if they don't know all the new RM methods and practices are bad/stupid/moronic they are less likely to question them?

Offices are now supervised by yes men and women. You could not in a hundred years ever describe them as managers.
This is the running down that we all knew would happen.

My only remaining hope is that in a few years time you can sign on the dole over the internet, save that walk of despair.

Wow glad it's not just our office !!!! It's awful at the moment and I can't see it getting better .....
Reading people are told to stream mail so they don't pay overtime ..... today I saw a manager trying to pressure a guy to take his lapsing after his frame was heaving with packets he almost gave in until a full timer piped up and said if you havnt got time.... you don't have to take it....
the relief on his face .... the office can be such a crap environment so nice to get out delivering while the minions sit inside counting their bonus money And eating Greg's

its all s**t, we've had lapsing every day for 2 years, yes even xmas! We get Bigger bundles on Sats and when shorter staffed!!

They seem to be trying to provoke local action now,rather than the Autumn when any IA will be far more effective and national.
I think they want to bring things to a head in the Summer.
We MUST do the job properly,no early starts and take breaks....by all means,complete delivery if you want to,even absorb if you have time,do overtime if they will pay it,but at the end of the day remember that you DO NOT HAVE to work past your finish time,Don't give them any excuse to censure you,as someone said at worktime this week "Don't walk onto their Punch"

So glad I am out of it now,I was made to hate the job I loved by how I was treated by management.19 years service and not even a thankyou when I left.

Likewise i took VR over 2 years ago after 27 years in the job, years ago used to love it as workloads were manageable, plenty of staff, lapsing unheard of, overtime available if wanted, but the last 5 years i see the job change for the worst with cuts and staff not being replaced and bullying becoming progressively worse and i hated the job and was looking to get out ASAP and got lucky with VR. Really feel sorry for the guys/girls left as i can just see the job getting worse and from the comments from offices here it seems as though this is happening.

They have no man management skills whatsoever,thinking that if they bully and intimidate staff they will get more out of them,infact it just does the opposite and the poor posties just get gound down and morale is on the floor,they go sick,then bullied and intimidated again.
They keep on about how they care about their staff and any mental health issues,dont they realise what their bullying and intimidation does to people,that alone can cause mental health issues!!!!!!!!!
Its about time those at the top realised how unhappy their workforce is,and how hard the posties work.Perhaps if they walked in their shoes they may treat them with more respect and realise what a bloody good job they do!!!!!
