How bad is this, got it from a news story, do they not bother anymore?
I Wrote-During Covid-Which is still relevant now
It's good to get these types of threads, the ridiculous my manager said bollox, so we can reassure ourselves that while the world is falling apart, Royal Mail managers are still being the low-life C***S they have always been.

Given the ongoing decline in letter traffic I think the maintenance of the boxes should be given to the person who collects from it.
Open the box, change the tab, scan the barcode, empty the box, give it a fresh lick of paint.
It would take less time than D2N.
The societies of consumption and squandering of material resources are incompatible with the idea of economic growth and a clean planet.

If you look in the background of the first photo, there is little or no foliage on the wall,by the time they've got round to painting,the box,the wall is covered.and a tree has grown up as well! Unless it's two different boxes.

I prefer it as it was. It matches the colour of most of the Combi vans. :dance

At our office we used to have 2 dedicated postmen who would fix, change time cards, and paint the boxes if necessary .In the afternoon,on overtime.
