A successful merger of four delivery offices is bringing the best out of our business in Lancashire.
Blackpool and Poulton delivery office opened at the end of 2015, when 250 colleagues from Blackpool, Poulton-Le-Fylde and South Shore offices merged.
The addition of Cleveleys delivery office earlier this year means there are now around 300 colleagues working from the site.
Advances in technology, including two new walk sequencing machines, are enabling a more efficient service and has seen the office become a mail processing unit (MPU).
‘It’s been a really successful 18 months,’ said delivery office manager Jim Blackburn. ‘From a business point of view, moving Cleveleys in has saved a lot of money, as the old unit is no longer a cost on the business. It’s a win-win situation for everyone involved.
‘Becoming an MPU also means we gained the flat sequencing machines, which makes us a more efficient operation. We don’t have to wait for the mail to arrive. We can work through the night to process it.’
Postwoman Natasha Keogh, who moved across from Cleveleys and operates one of the walk sequencing machines, said: ‘The move has made people come out of their shell more and interact with other people and do new things.
‘The machine is hard work and really fast-paced, but it keeps me busy and keeps my mind going.
‘Even when there have been difficulties, there are engineers on site who immediately solve the problems so that we can still get the mail out on time.’
