8 Hour shift + 4 hours overtime where do i stand with breaks?

to cut a long story short, my colleague was sent out on delivery, his finish time was 2:30, arrived back at the office at 2:20, in which he went straight home as he had no break, which left me in the callers office by myself staring at everything to do by myself til 8 tonight, approached management around 20 2 2 as it was cutting it short to take a 40 minute break, to which i was told he would be back soon, as i said he came back 10 minutes before finish time, spoke to union rep about it to which he went upstairs and was told the line manager would serve so i could have a break to which it never happened and went home with out saying anything, where do i stand in regards to being totally left to it all day, all be it 4 hours of it was overtime, the other 8 is my contract hours?

oh and so you know i was serving the public til a hour ago, not like the callers was closed .

i started at 8;30 this morning, he was sent out roughly at 10 this morning incase ur wondering, so i worked from say 10 til 8 2nite solidly byself with no break

thing is if u tell them then they fob you off and a union rep off two different times, what are u suppose to do if none is in the building and management wont get off there arse and help, just leave the Que pile up with people pressing the bell is it?

well no as i had nothing u could sorta eat and work at the same time, needed to be heated up and what not

if I was you I would be off sick tomorrow as somebody is taking the piss 10 hours no food and no rest break and get a grievance in sharpish just my opinion. hopefully somebody can give you good legal advice good luck..

the idea has rolled around in my head to go sick, it was done so casually as well like it seemed a pefrectly logical thing to do to totally leave me in the s**t with no break and then just go home, even after i said to them i wont have a break in 12 hours if he doesn't come back.

Well you've broken the Working Time Directive at a minimum. 15 min break in 6 hours.

well lock the door and have a break, DOM is taking the piss, tell him tomorrow that you are having a break at say 12.30 pm and just go in the canteen and tell your Union rep if you are worried

how does that work in regards to opening hours and customers complaining where shut? i understand where ur coming from in growing a pair and maybe i should, i just feel ive been wronged, as even when i walked in and explained everyone looks at u with daggers like your a piece of s**t for asking.

i need to go on the sick with stress tbh, ive had enough of it.
