Feeling First Class: Support
I Wrote-During Covid-Which is still relevant now
It's good to get these types of threads, the ridiculous my manager said bollox, so we can reassure ourselves that while the world is falling apart, Royal Mail managers are still being the low-life C***S they have always been.
My BFF Clash
The daily grind of having to argue your case with an intellectual pigmy of a line manager is physically and emotionally draining.

Feeling First Class: Support
https://www.myroyalmail.com/news/2017/05/support-you
Our Feeling First Class Support service is a confidential and independent helpline for employees, and their direct family members, to turn to if they have any problems or need advice. The service is free and available 24 hours a day and 7 days a week on 0345 266 5060.
Our Feeling First Class Support service is there to help whether you are in distress or if you need some advice, whether that be legal, financial or health-related.
It also has a great service for managers – if you are supporting a colleague with ill health or you need to talk to them about a sensitive topic and are unsure how to raise the subject, the counsellors on the First Class Support phone line can coach you so you feel confident in having that conversation.
The service contains five routes to support:
Counselling: Counselling support can help to explore any issues in a non-judgemental and confidential environment. It can help with both work-related and personal issues. Counselling can be provided by telephone, face-to-face and on-line (where chat or video is available on a secure portal).
Legal signposting: Legal information is available via a legal expert (for up to 20 minutes) on a wide range of issues such as family/divorce, neighbour disputes, criminal, consumer, motor and injury. This information is provided by phone for up to 20 minutes and where potential personal injury claims occur, such as for medical, injury and psychological distress, the legal expert can refer an employee on to another provider.
Practical help: Advice on how to clear debts is available. Feeling First Class Support works with a debt management company who can take payments and deal directly with creditors. Support and guidance can be provided to those impacted by domestic violence.
Manager coaching: Support to managers is available in the form of management coaching. This is aimed at managers who need to support their teams going through change or where there are traumatic situations at work such as a road traffic accident or assault. It also includes those times where there is a conflict between team members or if there are difficult behaviour issues at work to address. It can also guide managers on how to have a conversation with, and provide reassurance to, an employee suffering from a health condition.
Physical health: Lifestyle support is designed to encourage individuals to increase physical health and fitness as well as improving work-life balance. It highlights how we can look after ourselves to improve resilience and health. Employees are signposted to Royal Mail Group's health and wellbeing website http://www.feelingfirstclass.co.uk" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; (use organisational code FFC1) which can be accessed by all employees completely free of charge.
For more information on First Class Support and mental health (including useful documents) please take a look at the Health and Wellbeing intranet site. As always if you want to improve your wellbeing please sign up to the Feeling First Class wellbeing website (http://www.feelingfirstclass.co.uk" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; using the code FFC1 to register). This week we have passed the 13,000 members milestone on the Feeling First Class website!

What have we done so far 31/4/2017…
We have identified mental health as the issue we will support through our charity partnership programme.
Research shows that one in four people will experience a mental health issue every year. It is a very broad issue, affecting both children and adults, and covers a wide range of illnesses. We are committed to promoting good mental health and ensuring our people have access to a range of services that support positive mental wellbeing, both at work and at home.
Mental health initiatives
We already have a number of initiatives in place to support mental health amongst colleagues and communities. These include:
Support is available
We all have times when we feel bad. Most of the time those feelings pass – but sometimes they can develop into something more serious. Remember, there is support available. Our Feeling First Class website has materials and advice (use the code FFC1 to register). Colleagues can also contact Feeling First Class Support by calling 0800 6888 777 to access counselling, practical help and legal advice.

We already have a number of initiatives in place to support mental health amongst colleagues and communities. These include:
- Signatory of the Time to Change Pledge. Together with our two unions, the CWU and Unite/CMA, we have committed to help end the stigma of mental health in the workplace.
New ‘First Class Mental Health’ toolkit. Last year, we launched a mental health toolkit for managers, bringing all of the programmes and services we offer together in one place.
Awareness raising films. We produced five short films with the Mental Health Foundation, which have been viewed by 6,500 managers to date.
Mental health training. We have provided mental health first aid training to more than 400 managers, with more training planned for this year.
Supporter of Heads Together. As a supporter of the campaign, we have committed to help raise its profile and role model positive conversations on mental health.
Groundbreaking partnership with The Prince’s Trust. We are providing funding to the charity for a mental health advisor role for three years.
Partnership with Missing People. We help the charity find missing people – the vast majority of whom have mental health conditions – to reconnect them with loved ones and access the support that they may need.
24/7 helpline. Our helpline provides counselling for employees and family members.

When you go through this link and enter the code FFC1, it requires a password. Does anyone know what that is?
