MRM.COM : Colleagues respond positively to new footwear trials

Frontline feedback has helped develop new cutting-edge footwear currently being trialled by colleagues across the country.

Two unique designs have been produced exclusively for Royal Mail by safety footwear specialists Panther and Magnum.

The Easyflex trainer is a slip-resistant, lightweight waterproof shoe built for comfort by Panther. The Magnum Bandera Strike, a wide-fit alternative inspired by hiking, has a moulded insole for shock absorption and a Michelin outsole for maximum grip. Both have received positive feedback.

Sherbourne postman Jon Cordingley, said: ‘I’ve been wearing the Easyflex for a few months now and I couldn’t ask for better footwear.

‘They’re very comfortable and a lot lighter than anything I’ve had for work before. I recently had a knee operation and they’ve made pounding the pavement for 12 miles a day much easier.’

His colleague Steve Strange, added: ‘The Easyflex are the best work shoes I’ve had in 15 years. The best feature is the non-slip soles, they’re a massive improvement.’

Kevin Hext, delivery office manager at Sherborne delivery office, said: ‘Our input has really been valued. We’ve had loads of contact with the team at Panther and they’ve been really hands-on, visiting us and making tweaks based on our feedback.’

Renfrew postman Eddie McIntosh, added: ‘The Magnum Banderas are excellent. They’ve dealt with the demands of a Scottish winter better than I could have expected.’

Anyone got some "realworld" advice on these two shoes, I've just about managed wearing magnums (anvils are horrendous) since yds became unavailable, can anyone advise which would be best for a wider fit at the front, also which are best if you suffer with plantar fascitis type issues ?

Was think something similar myself! All uniform changes in recent years seem to have been designed to gradually transform us into clowns.... think they are trying to tell us something?

So three people at the DO thought they were good this included 1 manager who never goes out, The other 47 thought they were cheap rubbish but their views weren't printed??? Or am I a cynical non believer in anything Royal Mail management tells me believing that they buy the equipment based on which is the cheapest and do away with the universally liked YDS because they cost 50p a pair more?!!!!Not to mention the non waterproof stormproof jacket also available in different colours at the pound shop!!

True test will be when you have had them 11 months, and it's hosing down, how can they possibly 'test' them without wearing them for a year.

Their DOM is just off camera holding up a big cue card with everything Royal Mail want them to say.

Let's face it Royal Mail are making cuts to virtually everything except managers bonuses so they won't be spending money to improve our footwear. Just going on sight they look cheap and nasty. They look like something Noddy would wear.

Lol, and for those of us with large clown sized feet (Size 13!) it'll look even worse.

I'll certainly be interested to try the new footwear, to see if they can take my custom orthotics or not.

Posts like this should be blocked immediately,I mean what if the silly ideas department in Sheffield is reading this,give it time. They might have enough work on at the moment,but give them the summer to think about it.
