RMs comparisons with other non mail firms i.e Yodel Hermes.

RM compares us with courier outfits as I think they would come unstuck comparing us with other Mail companies around the world.
USPS postmen/women earn about £40k a year,the Irish earn about £25k ,Canadians earn on average £29k. Not sure how much french Germans Italians earn in relation to us.
And RM and others in this country think we're overpaid.

Also Yodel and Hermes delivery staff work the hours they choose and have flexibility. Its not really the same job ? Well saying that it prob will become the same if RM get there way in driving down the pay and conditions.

If Yodel and Hermes drivers are self employed, does this mean they can take whatever day they want off? I would agree its not the same job if this is the case. Not to mention they don't have to deliver letters door to door and walk miles and miles. Over Xmas, I was put on parcel duty. It was much easier physically.

It is a right smack in the face to compare RM workers to anybody else, we are the only Company with the responsibility of the USO, that covers letters, pkts, specials, tracked, 2D scanning, there is no one like us anywhere in the World, comparisions my arse rant over

How would Moya defend being overpaid for the work she does relative to other FTSE Chief Executives ?

If we are in the soft and pungent, as being portrayed in the latest propoganda document, then Moya and her fellow Directors are clearly 'in the frame' for presiding over a failed Business Plan. She cannot heap the blame on those of us that are employed at an operational level under the misguided direction of her numerous levels of management.

RM's Annual Results are due to be released on 18th May, so it will be interesting to see just how bad we are doing? Will the
dividend be reduced as we can no longer afford to pay it at the same rate ? I don't think so since the pay and bonuses of the Board and Executives are dependent upon keeping institutional shareholders happy. Never mind that the employees own the majorty share. Better to shaft the employees on several fronts rather than cut the dividend.

This is it for me. They want us to be more realistic with our wages and working week in comparison to the competitors.

I did 5 and a half hours on a rural with no break until the end, and got bit (not bad) by a daft sheep dog on a farm.

I doubt Yodel/Hermes don't put up with half the things we do. They can cherry pick where they deliver for a start.
