Temporary shift change

Hi all, asking on behalf of a colleague going through some personal difficulties.

If he changes shift his regular shift (with agreement from his line manager), to one that includes a Sunday attendance, would he be paid Sunday premium, even though it's only a temporary arrangement? Would payroll in Sheffield be notified, or does this happen automatically under PSP?

He's planning to ask to do this for 6-7 weeks, because of childcare issues over the school holidays.

Is he in a position with managers agreement instead of a shift change have the full school term of 6-7 weeks off and return the hours by banking over the remaining weeks of the year.

No, he can't do that. Soa change of shift pattern is his only realistic option
