how long is your delivery ?

thought it would be interesting to compare how long deliveries are up and down the country. Time from the time you leave office, until the time you return as delivery length.

typical wednesday 4 hrs 10
typical saturday 3 hrs 30

About 5 hours, its a rural with 40 mins travelling. Obviously Christmas it takes longer. Also lapsing everyday now as well!

yeah, ill admit my duty is one of the easier ones in my office, 5hr 30 min ? thats brutal :(

Some of the rurals I do in my office are between 5/6 hours but one of them is 4 hours...the difference in time is really unfair...

5 hours an 45 mins this Tuesday just gone and they wanted us to do more indoor work and lapse a delivery luckily common sense prevailed and they knocked the outdoor lapse

I'm on a shared van duty which is a fair distance from the office and has a 15 minute drive to reach it, so add half an hour on to the following first-letter-to-last times.

Typical Wednesday: 4hrs 20mins, typical Saturday: 4hrs.

This doesn't include meal relief, which we always take after the first delivery, and so on a Wednesday we're usually away from the office for about 5hrs 30min in total.

These times are only good when I work with my regular partner or the day off float, as we know the delivery inside out (it's an old part of town with lots of ginnels, awkward street designs, bizarrely numbered streets, houses tucked away out of sight, flats above/behind shops, unnamed/unnumbered houses, narrow streets that can't be driven along when idiots park opposite each other etc). You can stick an hour on when one of us is on holiday. No fault of the reserves, just the way it is.

Age between 20-40 duty 4 to 4:30 hours above 40, duty 5 hours and more mon-fri and sat 3 hours.

No prep just tie down 5 hours including 20 mins travelling 30 minute break. Then I do a collection for 2.5 hours
So in when everyone has gone out so miss all the bitchiness and lapsing and the collection lads have a good craic in the afternoon

Rural, 5hrs 20, easy day, up to 7hrs on a really busy day, including 20 mins break while out.

Some of these spans are unreal. Most days in our office they're between 5-5 and half hours long and even Tuesdays are 4 on s good day

mondays 6.15 hrs or so , an easy Tuesday , 5.35 hrs
Wednesday - Friday , 6.20 hrs on a standard day , on a busy day 7-00 hrs.
Saturday a slack 6.00 hrs. and they wonder why we f**k the extra off , lol.

This thread is going to go the way of comparing apples to oranges!

Using LWT and HCT correctly, or carrying pouches on shoulder outside of delivering to blocks of flats?
Standing still to filter mail from working bundle for next address as we are supposed to, or walk towards next address while trying to filter?
Including the scheduled 20min break on delivery, or excluding it because you don't use it to finish 20mins earlier?
Leaving parcels only in safe places, or dumping them inside open porch doors?
Delivering to neighbour, or no time to try?
Sticking to paths, or walk across grass and step over small walls?
etc.

On an average day, doing the proper way over fudging could easily add over an hour to the delivery span.
