Leaving the business

So after 20 years service I leave the business this week. Sad to be leaving? nope! Had enough of not only myself but other members of staff being treated like a number, where if your good at your job you get more work to do. Tired of nothing getting done to the staff who somehow can get back over an hour quicker on a Saturday than they do on a weekday.
What do I have to show for 20 years loyal service.... Nothing.... in my 20 years..
Been off sick 4 times.
Always had a clear conduct record.
Never slept in.

Know how you feel mate, we're just cogs in the machine.

But looking back I'm sure you can pick out memorable and enjoyable moments, keep hold of them and forget the rest!

Good luck mate, I left a while back for pretty much the same reasons. Work for a small family company now and the way I am treated and the respect I am given is quite a shock to the system. Just think of all that election stuff you don't have to worry about now!

In my office we do longs and shorts,Saturdays are one of the short days (7hrs 18mins) .Our finish time on a Saturday is 13.33 compared to 14.24 Weds,Thurs and Fri.For these reasons I get back that hour earlier on a Saturday than I do the rest of the week.We get to our 1st delivery point quicker as there is less traffic on the road,You get round the delivery quicker for the same reason.Plus more people tend to be home to accept items than mon-fri.

We are a set 7:48 Monday to Saturday.
Myself and three others get back the same time every day including the Saturday, but couple of colleagues can get back that hour or so quicker on a Saturday.

Finished in March after 38 years service. Agree with everything you say. Only had about one month off when I had pneumonia in the 90's But the job was having an effect on my health and. managed to get ill health retirement.

I know how you feel I left recently after 19 years loyal service, was sad to go in a way,but had just had enough of the treatment dished out by the managers. I had a good sick record,like you a clear conduct record,and never slept in.What did I get? Like you Nothing! Not even a thankyou.

"Saturday legs" is what our DOM calls them.

sounds like somebody liked to finish early everyday and didn't like the extra work thrown there way that my friend was your own stupidity.

Or just maybe the others had easier duties and dragged it out during the week but were able to finish early on saturdays and were never challenged over it?
