LTB 245/17 PAUL MALONEY BRANCH CHAIR, BIRMINGHAM DISTRICT AMAL BRANCH

NO: 245/17

26th April 2017

TO: ALL BRANCHES

Dear Colleague

PAUL MALONEY BRANCH CHAIR, BIRMINGHAM DISTRICT AMAL BRANCH

FUNERAL ARRANGEMENTS

All Branches were advised in LTB 684/16 of the sad and tragic death of our friend and colleague Paul Maloney, who was Branch Chairperson of the CWU Birmingham and District Amal Branch.

You will recall that Paul and his wife were involved in a violent assault which left both with serious injuries. Paul very sadly passed away on 19th November 2016, leaving behind his wife Jackie, his son Paul Junior and his stepdaughters Kate, Laura and Helen. Our deepest sympathies and condolences were conveyed to the family on behalf of the CWU.

There has been a delay in making the funeral arrangements because the Police and Crown Prosecution Service had been carrying out further investigations. Paul Maloney’s tragic death is now being treated as a murder enquiry.

We are now requested to advise branches with details of the funeral arrangements:- follows:-

Date: Friday 19th May 2017

Time: 13.00 hrs

Venue: St Edwards RC Church, Raddlebarn Road, Selly Park, Birmingham B29 7DB

Followed by: Kings Norton Cemetery, Longdales Road, Kings Norton, Birmingham B38 9BU

A wake will take place at:-
The Roddings Suite

Mosoley Rugby Club

Billesley Common

Yardley Wood Road

Birmingham B13 OPT

We have been advised that all are welcome.

The family has requested that no flowers be sent, however, Branches may wish to make a donation to “the Air Ambulance Services”. Donations can be made direct or via the Birmingham & District Amal Branch.

Yours sincerely

Tony Kearns

Acting General Secretary
