Will my special fail

Hi I had a special today that tried to deliver at 11am but no one in found a parcel in the van at 2pm so had to go back with that and he signed for the special will it be classed as a failure at that time or should I have taken it back to office

No you're fine, (assuming you scanned it as not delivered no answer when you first tried) your first scan will have satisfied the before 1pm criteria.

No. No worries, and don't treat these 'dummy' specials from China as time critical either, they are not.

As it's a saturday special deliveries are not time critical (that's what we have been told) unless maybe a Saturday guarantee as they are only due to be delivered Monday.

Even Saturday Guarentee don't have to de delivered before 1pm. They just have to have a delivery attempt on the Saturday.

Once you have scanned a Special that is logged. So, if you scan it at 10am and they are not in. Then re attempt it at and get rid of it at 2pm it will not be classed as a faliure. The first attempt is the overriding time. Did one today just like that, they were not in at 9:35 put a card in. Tried again at 1:15 and they were.. Job done.

your fine, plenty of times people have come to find me to grab their specials from me, I think they'd be a tad pissed off if I said sorry your have to go to the DO tomorrow to get it :P

If I'm walking back past a house that has a parcel/special I usually give it a quick knock as well only if times on my side ;)

In my office the DOM gets a report of all failures (non Doorstep scans, late prios, etc) the very next day.

From the FAQ's on the RM website (see below) they seem to suggest to customers Sat Guarantee can/should be delivered before 1pm........

For a small fee, Post Offices throughout the UK will accept your items on Friday for 9:00am* or 1:00pm delivery on Saturday. Saturday delivery cannot be accepted for some businesses including:
