I would not thing so as RM probably have at least one claim against their insurance company every day.
you work for the company so it's not only you on the insurance policy.

you can however still save money on your own insurance by stating that you drive and have access to another vehicle.

I thought if you drive/use a company vehicle that's usually an excuse for your insurance company to deem you a higher risk and bump up your premium?

i dunno about that as you give them access to the dvla as a individual to check your details points etc,

so we should be treated as individuals as anyone who has done a change over is insured so in my mind i should be able to get the no claims over the years i have been driving a rm vehicle

Royal Mail vans count as "Commercial Vehicles" which MOST insurers won't use to count towards No Claims Bonuses.

To be completely accurate when asking for driving at work to help discount NCB they usually ask you to get the company to confirm, in writing that the vehicle is not a Commercial Vehicle.

Still it's worth checking with your insurer first, and then checking to see if Royal Mail will confirm required details.

On the flip side do any claims while driving for the RM have to be declared to your insurers?.

Yes, every time.

Apparently, it forms part of your driving history and helps them assess the liability and risk of insuring you.
