Full time job come up in work currently on 20 hour contract been working in my current office just over 2 years started a week after another work colleague but did work for Royal Mail for 2 years before I started in my current office and had a year break in between just wanted to know if this counts towards my seniority am I ahead of my fellow work colleague for the full time job thankyou for any replies

No the 2 years will count towards extra leave entitlement, but for Seniority, it has to be unbroken service.

From the Way Forward Agreement:

6 All service within an appropriate grade, whether on permanent or temporary basis, will count for seniority purposes, with the exception of any periods worked on a casual contract,or during a career break or sabbatical. Unpaid leave will count provided there is no break in contract. Service after age 60 will continue to count. However service must be continuous for seniority purposes, with periods prior to any break in contract (due to re-employment, for example) not generally included, unless there are exceptional circumstances applying to particular cases that are agreed at local level.

So just to recap... if an OPG has a Career Break (or Sabbatical) this will knock him or her back on the seniority list ?

As I understand it, it freezes them for the period of their absence and then restarts on return. So if they have 6 months and have done 15 years their seniority is 14.5 years.

Local agreements can over ride this though and when push comes to shove the Dom usually does. I have seen it happen recently and said OPG's career break was included for seniority calculations.
