Recently taken a job as a HGV fitter with RM. During the Interview I was handed a sheet with the basic annual salary and hourly rate on for a new starter. This was £25,025 and £13.14 per hour, which works out to around a 39.7 hour week at £13.14 PH. However all staff at my depot including myself are on a contract of 36.5 hours
meaning I'm around £2,200 light of what I was expecting/told at interview.
Now over time is readily available and I will easily be able to make these 3 hours up. I just feel a little cheated as I'll be having to do an extra 3 hours a week just to hit what I was told would be the basic salary. Really I should be on the 25k for the 36.5 hours then anything extra worked from there should be over time.
Why do they state a salary which can only be achieved by working 40 hours when your contract is for 36.5?

Wage Discrepancy?!
It's a misleading job add. The add illudes to 25k basic plus shift allowances but it is in fact 25 including shift allowances. This means the basic is only 23k.
Having said that its only a 36.5 hour week, there's is plenty of overtime which means you can easily hit at least 45 hours a week which brings your basic right up!
