Can a member ask for a rep

Does a member have to have a rep provided or can they have a rep from another office if they want if other rep is alright about it. This is for grievance.

They can have any colleague they wish within reason.

For instance they can't ask for a rep 1 hour before the time of the meeting when the rep is 3 hours away.

She has no rep in her office and grievance against her single dom. Been told has to have the area rep but her husband has advised not and suggested another rep in an office up the road. Other rep ok with it but she has been told she can't. Doesn't seem right.

Not 1, but 2 documents (one a Royal Mail one) say different.

Which policies apply?
The following policies could include a meeting where an employee will have the right to be accompanied:
 Conduct Policy
 Grievance Policy
 Stop: Bully & Harassment Policy
 Improving Performance Policy
 Attendance Policy
 Ill Health Policy

Choice of companion
Employees can be accompanied by a fellow work colleague, an official employee of a trade union, or a trade union representative. The companion who the employee is accompanied by will depend on the circumstances of each case. However, Royal Mail Group reserves the right to refuse the choice of companion if the individual chosen is someone:
 Whose presence would prejudice the meeting; or
 Who may have a conflict of interest; or
● Whose geographic location is too remote and there is someone more suitably qualified available locally

Does the area rep cover the office " up the road" anyway so why should there be a problem with the rep from this office it doesn't seem right. As their is no rep in her office she is entitled to accompanied by another rep provided she gives this rep sufficient notice when the grievance meeting is being held so that this rep can make arrangements with his office for the time off to attend the grievance. You will need to find out what reason has been given for this rep not assisting with her grievance.

Area rep covers the office with no rep. I told her of the information and she spoke with the area rep who has told her he HAS to represent her as in keeping with the framework?
