Local collect

Hi I currently work in a SPDO and have just got a new line manager.
They have told us when unable to deliver a tracked item, instead of submitting it as 'no answer' on the PDA we have to mark it as delivered to local collect, P739 it as normal and return the item to the Post office as usual.
This is only being done as far as I can see to improve their 1st time delivery totals , but surely this can't be right as all it's doing is falsifying the figures, and we've got concerns that it could come back to bite us if we do as asked.
Has anyone else been asked to do this.

But surely that is going to email/text the customer that the parcel is at the Post Office and not back in our system?

Yes have asked him for that.
Forgot to say he claims it's a request from the quality director himself lol.

Am I right in thinking that the parcels go to a post office in a village and not back to the office? I've been told you scan tracked a different way, but wasn't told the details as we didn't have any tracked at the time and I was covering a different office.

In that case get him to get that request from the quality director in writing before putting that in writing to you (both his ass and yours would then be covered)
