Hi,
The following was part of 'The Way Forward' agreement back in 2000... 'SA will be limited to no more than 12 hours per employee in any week'.
In our office this has never been adhered to and staff have constantly gone over this limit. Today i was told that they would be starting to enforce this and any SA that was worked over 12 hours, would have to be paid at satndard overtime rate.
I just wanted to know if other offices have had to adhere to this or if like our office it has gone unchallenged, and has anyone been told the same as i have been today??
Thanks.

12 Hour SA Agreement
My office we had a local agreement to work over the 12hr SA rule. Got told this week the same. I've been at my office since 2005 and this is the first time they have enforced this.

12 Hour SA Agreement
SA paying a higher hourly rate as opposed to standard overtime rate was a dangling carrot from the business to ensure that they could rely on staff attending for a 3 hour or 4 hour coverage and this being included in their holiday pay should their SA fall when they were on annual leave. Coverage would not have the same guarantee paying at the standard overtime rate and SA was a mutually agreed contract by the signatory and RM to ensure that quality of service was not disrupted. A months notice is required to the signatory if SA is to be withdrawn. It should also be reviewed every 12 months to ensure fairness of allocation of SA. Each office has a different way in operating their SA hours some have SA signatories or their SA are left open to be shared with staff who are available to cover. If SA over 12 hours is to be paid at standard overtime rate then in essence this is not SA and RM is reducing their SA budget without prior negotiation and ignoring quality of service and customer satisfaction and this is a matter for your union rep to address with management.Zade77 wrote:Hi,

12 Hour SA Agreement
I would just like to add, there has been a directive from above regarding compliance to this and other issues including o/t recently, apparently Audits have shown that many units are not compliant to the Law (work time directive) and collective Agreements in my Division
