Should HCT Duties have to do lapsing?
I was on an hct duty that did lapsing a couple of times, but was then moved to a different hct duty that gets more stuff (e.g. 121 kg today) so it hasn't come up since. I'd imagine if you're asked it would count as a reasonable request ... but then it would depend if you've time. There's no obligation to go over your hours.

Should HCT Duties have to do lapsing?
In my office the dozen HCT duties only have about 3 hour deliveries, whereas the van shares are all 4 hours plus. All the HCT folk have to do lapsing, moan about it, and yet are all sat at home home while the van shares are only halfway around their second walk.

Surely it's the HCT duties that get lapsed?

Should HCT Duties have to do lapsing?
The dozen HCT duties I referred to are those remaining AFTER several others are lapsed. We also have a couple of shared van duties where one of the walks is lapsed for other shared van duties to deliver, the remaining walk being delivered as a singleton using a van.t3mcIUQWE2 wrote:Surely it's the HCT duties that get lapsed?

Its a stitch up. The HCT duties in My office are the ones who can get back early. Managers see all the time they make decide We can handle more lapsing so it gets dumped on the P&L duties
.Its gonna kick off pretty soon big time

Yeah I know what You mean mate but its the principle. I know, I know lapse if You have time dont if You havent etc etc but its the same ones being put upon. If You are a full time, sorter and on park and loop Your getting more and more dumped on You.t3mcIUQWE2 wrote:In my office it is only the runners who do it. Mugs.

If it's a problem of fairness then get them to lapse indoor before delivery.

Should HCT Duties have to do lapsing?
In my office the HCT's don't have outdoor lapsing but they do prep another delivery. The 1 in 6 HCT's have an earlier finish time than the 9 dayers but more often than not the 9 dayers get back at the same time as the HCT duties and get to go at the same time. Today, (Sat) the 9 dayers were finishing 1.5-2 hours early. Obvious to me who needs to be doing the bulk of the lapsing.

I've worked with planners, and we were told that HCT walks are supposed to be 30 minutes LONGER then cdvs, this was backed up by area and division reps and doms boss.
The reason is because that they are normally the closest deliveries to the office.
Any walk that is more then a mile away or has a block of flats which take longer then 10 mins to deliver cannot be a HCT DELIVERY, that is why the cdvs are SUPPOSED to be 30 mins shorter.
BUT I've been told (and someone in the know can correct me), that RM don't want to use geo route/Pegasus anymore as they have realised that with so many new builds it means that they show that more deliverys are needed.
I've been withdrawn next week to work out how to fit 1740 new delivery points into our office without putting in more walks.

I suspect Royal mail aren't really interested in Revisions any more because of things like this. It seems a case of, "You lot have agreed to a revision, now you're stuck with it, get on and deliver it"! The biggest problem we had was it was agreed to have a "Trial Period" to see if our Original Revision was working. There was then meant to be a Review and any adjustments made to un-even duties. This never happened.Whysoslowyehcfc wrote:I've worked with planners, and we were told that HCT walks are supposed to be 30 minutes LONGER then cdvs, this was backed up by area and division reps and doms boss.

Nowadays with the information available from the new PDAs, and the in vehicle telemetry (Trimble?) surely it's not that hard to plan duties more accurately?
