CWU opt in Deduction

I have had a deduction from my wage slip this week CWU Opt in £1.87. Does anyone know what this relates to as I have not opted in (or out) of anything .I am PT/ 20 hours

The opt in means you are paying into the political fund about 20p for full timers

I have been in the union for several years, ever since employed by RM as Agency & employee. Thanks for the response arnold cheshire but would I (& all other members) have been "Opted in " automatically. Why now? is this a new initiative?

I have now realised for the last two weeks I have been having my subs deducted from my wages (plan 5/ 20 hours) Opt in £1.87 p/w instead of Monthly Direct Debit Opt in £8.14 I was paying since 2012. Makes no difference really except that I cannot understand why I was not notified of the change.

I have now discovered two colleagues who joined the union the same time as me, & were also paying Monthly subs by direct debit, are now paying weekly from salary after being requested to fill in another application form (To Join CWU) but not told that the way their subs were being deducted would change!.
