anyone got any downloads of agreements re security of mail issues at doorstep

On this topic ( security of mail ), but a different thread, my wife, on afternoon collections, has repeatedly booked 2 Vauxhall Vivaros off owing to the side sliding door coming off the hinges. She's not sure ( nor am I ) whether this could happen whilst driving, but doesn't want to chance it. Her gripe is the fact that they're not being fixed, if they go to the workshop at all, they come back the same.

The fact is your wife has recorded the defect by means of a PMT and inserted in the log book for the vehicle. If vehicle is reissued with PMT removed and signed off by workshop but believes that the work has not been carried out she has every right to refuse this vehicle on security grounds and if accepting the vehicle she would be alerted to her PMT for this vehicle and make sure that her pre-vehicle check list includes the sliding door hinges and if still uncertain as to the vehicle being unsecure should return vehicle keys and inform her line manager accordingly of her concerns. The responsibility of taking the vehicle would become the line managers decision.

Your are quite right,however, it should be noted,that if the vehicle is not roadworthy and the driver is stppped by the police, or VOSA,regardless of any decision,or directive issued by the line manager,the driver remains liable to prosecution,so if it's my license ,then I shall endeavour to protect it.

I can assure you she doesn't take it if it isn't fixed.
What doesn't help is the person who has it on delivery apparently couldn't care one way or the other, and takes it with the fault docket on the front of the log book, so it's obviously been logged off !
