overtime

My partner has gone off sick, so his walk is on overtime. Is it my responsibility to prep his walk including D2D as well as mine?

No, its your responsibility to do your job, which may include anything that you are asked to do within your working day.
If you have time to prep both frames then yes, if you don't have time then no.

Prep both equally until everyone on the IPS goes back to their walks as would be part of your normal duty. Then leave the rest for the O/T people, they're the ones getting paid for it after all.

You could try throwing off both lots of Households........ both lots of Mech....both lots of IPS ...both lots of Packets.... do all the Redirections.......AND then tell the DOM your Hours are Up.... and it's time for you to knock off!

Could you imagine his thoughts as he sees you ploughing through both lots of Prep, "We've got a right keen one here he's going to do 2 Posties worth of Prep"!

Until at about 11.00 when you drop the bomb on him!

Go on you know you want to do it.

some office where they have replaced ft'ers with pt guys, they are then forced to double prep common practice across london

Just do what you normally do. If you double prep till your partner normally comes in, do that until that time. Simple.

In our office, what they have sometimes tried to do if they can't get any staff to do it on overtime is to try and lapse it. In other words, double lapsing!! So what you get is, the runners who finish earlier than everyone else taking it (plus their original lapse) and those that tend to leave some of their mail behind because of the lapsing; leaving behind even more lapsing.

Depending on the line manager usually depends how much grief we are going to get as regards working to time but its really not uncommon to see managers walking the streets when we have all finished. Still, Im happy to know that at least they are making budget.

Maybe get your manager to tell you and manage it???
