30hr contracts for all ????

heard that union are trying for everyone to be on 30hr contacts, anyone heard anything about this or is it all bull.

I believe the union are aiming for a 35 HR working week.

yeah i heard that. just someone was sayingh at work this morning they trying for 30hr across the board, we are 9 staff down including 5 full time staff thats not including any sick or annual leave. we been told boss can recruite only 1. and no ones to be made full time because of this 30hr thing, if im honest i think its a load of tosh, just thought id ask on here see if there is any truth in the rumor

same as ours 3 f/t ers just gone 2 ihr , 1 retired , replaced by 24 hrs being made up to 30 hrs and they expect f/ters to double prep when they work with you as they don't start till 9am and the rest to mop the ips up , so that's a lovely 27 hrs of indoor saved , its a discrace, and does the cwu know this is going on ? and is this not a r/m money saving scheme again ,

30hr contracts wouldn't work in MCs when generally with casuals, OT, SA and managers working needed to clear. RM would probably have to increase the workforce by at least a 1/3

I was chatting to the Area Delivey Rep not so long ago and that was his view as well. Under the New "4 Pillars of Security", proposed by the CWU, they will push for a 35 hour week (obviously still being paid the same). BUT Royal Mail will probably look to getting rid of our PAID Meal Breaks!

TBH most of the Dickheads I work with don't take them, work through them & don't even bother to try and claim any time in lieu anyway. So they're not going to kick too much against that.

Do the sums: 5 x 40 minutes + 3 hours 20 mins (so in effect RM would only be "Losing" another 40 mins.

Once they've pushed that through (probably with a £200 sweetener, which most of the Dickheads will snap up), then they'll be looking to slash the Sickness payments. I'm only speculating but I've worked at firms where you don't get paid for the 1st 3 days you're off sick (and I've worked for firms that didn't ANY sick pay)

I wouldn't put anything past RM once their accountants start sharpening their pencils. And I'm not convinced the majority of the present workforce have got the backbone to stand up and fight against this attack against their T & Cs.
