HAVE YOUR SAY - WPC
We are all due to "Have our say" in the Royal Mail employee survey, so I will be advising the idea of saving £1924 per annum by not having Work Place Coaches, the reason being is that they are all managers favourites plus and more importantly they do nothing in return except for the week before one of the directors come up from head office in London to view paperwork which is of course doctored.

You're better off as an office collectively agreeing not to fill out the survey.
I believe engagement figures are monitored closely.

My expierence is one that if asked a question one should answer hence say what you see, it's like using a vote everyone should vote.norm wrote:You're better off as an office collectively agreeing not to fill out the survey.

Not all workplace coaches just pick up the money i personally train Manual handling , induction and training for new starters , agency induction , trailer training and support WTL with power point presentation maybe in other parts of Royal Mail they may do very little but i can quote its non stop coaching for the Network part of the business we coach i other parts of the business . Yes we should have workplace coaches its supports and benefits the workforce so the business should be monitoring what some workplace coaches do in their own workplace and if very little pay them only when they do the role of coaching.
You have your own opinion and i respect that but please dont tie us with all with the same brush.

Everyone's experience is different mine is. I understand your position but don't agree with the target. The problem of underutilization of the WPCs, isn't the incumbent's fault, its managers fault pure and simple. If a manager doesn't give you enough work to fill your working day, do you advise them and request a pay cut if there isn't

I will not be completing the survey and am trying to get others in the office to do so as well. A few in our office did not complete it last year and it caused our manager some distress. If the majority in the office did not complete it all hell would break loose. In all the years of doing this survey it has not changed one thing for the better.
And if all others accepted the lie which the Party imposed-if all records told the same tale-then the lie passed into history and became truth. 'Who controls the past' ran the Party slogan, 'controls the future: who controls the present controls the past.'"

How's about complaining that a significant number of staff go home early on a regular basis? I'm sure that costs royal mail a darn sight more..... Oh but you're probably one of them so will probably not mention it. As for being teachers pet, well I'm a wpc and am not in the slightest bit scared to stick up for any one of the new starters I've trained or any other member of staff, be it with the dom or dso or whoever. Not in the union so will never be union rep but you don't have to be to stick up for yourself or others. IMHO union reps are more in cahoots with management.

OK I'll have my say. True Blue Terrier hit the nail on the head, managers aren't using WPC's properly and that's not the fault of the WPC.walkthewalk wrote:We are all due to "Have our say" in the Royal Mail employee survey, so I will be advising the idea of saving £1924 per annum by not having Work Place Coaches, the reason being is that they are all managers favourites plus and more importantly they do nothing in return except for the week before one of the directors come up from head office in London to view paperwork which is of course doctored.
Why don't you have a whine about there being too many managers not earning their pay? Get rid of some of them, bigger savings there boyo!

Starting this thread was a good thing as I have learned something from what you say by not filling in the survey, I work in a large delivery office and last year each and every one was given time out from duty overlooked by line managers while filling the survey in so the importance of filling the survey in is what you say important to all managers. Indeed all offices seem to run differently but all seem to run like a shambles with corrupt managers and hangers on acting as brown noses, our office is just that and yes the union rep is in the managers pocket. I do feel strongly though with WPC getting paid for nothing were an additional postie would help out instead of the office being under staffed with the saving in cost, there are about 8 WPC in our office so the savings would afford the extra postie.pahoehoe wrote:I will not be completing the survey and am trying to get others in the office to do so as well. Does the CWU hierarchy not have any imput on the points to be raised in the questionnaire ?
I think the wording and the relevance of many questions posed are misleading and designed to create a response more suited to paint a rosy picture within RM, they are in fact leading questions.
We have all witnessed changes since it's inception. Action on most points raised and exposed in the survey gave gone unresolved for years now. RM are desperate to paint a picture that is not reflective of real working life for RM staff - generally. Delivery for example differs greatly from office based jobs within RM structure. Managements views need to be heard , of course, but the survey is not truly reflective in my opinion.
On the point of WPC, I tend to agree with what TBT said. It hardly the coaches fault that managers would rather they were used to deliver mail rather than utilise them on constructive coaching work. It IS a good idea, if used as it was intended.
Don't condemn them - the WPC, it's not really their fault, is it?

Not if the work is clear it doesn't. And no, I'm not "one of them",whatever that insinuation was about. I finish on time ,all the time. It's poor management that is to blame, they just pick on easy targets, like new starters and bully them., instead of grasping the nettle and dealing with the early starters and the runners.rambo1 wrote:How's about complaining that a significant number of staff go home early on a regular basis? Well, a few of our WPCs are now "managers" who also do delivery and the other one is the rep (say no more)
So as for the survey, Im better off saving the valuable ink for writing out my P739 slips
