warning Mybundle car lease

Hi all,

I wanted to share my experience with the car i leased through mybundle.

At first it was a really good deal, so easy no worries about anything, On 31st of January I has hit by a 40ft truck from Portugal, Zenith were really good about this, they got the AA to recover me & had a courtesy car waiting for me within hours.

I was also told the next day i had to pay the excess on the insurance & it would be refunded to me IF they managed to claim the money back off the 3rd party who was at fault.I was not really happy about it but not allot i could do.

2 Days later is when the problems started, the place i got the courtesy car from rang me & told me the car was a write off & they wanted the car back that day, I called Zenith & told them & they replied that as my car was a write off they could not help & what is more i still had to have the deductions taken off my wage for 4 to 6 weeks till the insurance had been settled. I went over my insurance documents & it did state that if a 3rd party could be held responsible then i was entitled to a replacement car, so I went to the insurer direct & did manage to secure a rental car for 2 week. So if this happens to you don't even bother talking to the lease company go straight to the insurer.

Now 2 weeks later the insurance are ready to settle & the hire car they gave me is due back. So i rang Zenith & was told once the settlement is received from the insurer, then they would tell royal mail to stop the deductions off my wage & my contract will have ended, i would be then free to START the order on a new car. A new car even if they have it stood in a dealer waiting to go would take 2 to 3 weeks to be delivered because of the paperwork, but if i wanted to order a specific car then i would be 2 to 3 months.

So basically i am left stranded without a car for a minimum of 2 to 3 weeks, a car i need to get to work. It would have been fine if the car was repairable I would have kept the initial courtesy car till repaired but be warned if your car is wrote off you will be left high & dry. As you can probably guess i have taken out a loan & am off out to buy a new car & will not be renewing my lease.

I have had problems with my Zenith car (too boring to go into here). Suffice to say I will not be renewing when the contract ends.

Customer care is as usual less important than getting your money off you and suck some more, if they can get away with it and they make it very hard to get it back.

I have also found the customer care just as bad with my bundle technology

That's the understatement of the year as far as Zenith are concerned!

If you go down the lease route again you'll need to be quick as the Govt are closing this tax perk end of March.
Shame as this is the sort of perk that helps the working class into a reliable safe car.

Have been looking into this, does anyone know if your no claims bonus increases while on their insurance?

I never looked into the scheme as I purchased a new Vauxhall (with RM discount) a few months before the scheme went live.

How much are the repayments? i've always bought cars, paid them off over 3 years and sold/used the car as a deposit for a better car.

It's not a "perk", it's a way of making money out of you from leasing instead of selling a car to you.

Nope, If you insure your next car through the same company then they'll give you the amount of years no claims, they will give you a letter saying you've had the car for x number years but other companies might not honour it as a NCD.

As someone pointed out Its a 'lease' so you don't actually own the car, therefore you can't make any money at all selling it at the end of the 2,3 or 4 year term. Also, if you go above the estimated mileage that you think you will do then you will incur additional costs at the end of the term as well.

For what I was looking for, it worked out a whole lot cheaper to buy a car at a dealer on finance that was only a few years old with perhaps 20k on the clock than it was to go with a brand new car plus the insurance and maintenance on the Zenith lease.

Exactly.
Depreciation is a lot of money wasted for the first year of a car's life, and you're paying that whether you've bought a brand new car or leased a brand new car.

All the while reducing people's tax liability.
Just what we all need, reduced governmental tax income just so a few can drive around in a new Astra or Fiesta that they're never going to own.

I don't think its a great deal really. Compared to what im paying now for a 2015 corsa and my insurance comes to £170 per month amd tax is £30 a year. Can't get that with zenith.
