I'm currently being messed about.
I have a 30 hour permanent contract at my current office but when I get told to go to another office I end up working 32 hours + working over. I also have been told that I have to work their hours & not my own. I have thought about speaking to my union rep on this matter. Can they make me do this ?
For instance today I worked 8.15 till 2.40 (20 mins less no break) I said I was coming back at 2.30pm & I would be bringing mail back of which we did. No idea where I was going & neither did the person I was working with either. The downfall is my own office is 18 miles away surely I should be getting back earlier so I am working to my office finish time. Can anyone help please

They can move you but you can make them change their mind when you make it difficult for them.
You're fully entitled to start your normal start time at Your office and then travel to the other office, then at the end of the delivery travel back to your normal office by your finish time. They can't make you go over your company tract hours. Travelling to other offices is included in your travel time.
Also you don't have to use your own car (you most likely are not insured to drive to the other office anyway) insist on using a royal mail van or public transport which you will be refunded for.

The thing is I don't go back to my office I go directly home which is around 21 miles which is an absolute ball ache on the m62 at that time. They said if I go directly from home to another office that is fine because I'm going straight to that place of work. I been told if I work there 1 whole week I have to follow their hours. I follow my own if i'm there odd days. Think I been given a load of crap to be fair & being used. Need to speak to my union me thinks. You think so ?

I am a well travelled postman
If you want to start at your home office at your start time you can and also finish at your own DO for your finish time you can. I have done that and also the following
But if your car insurance covers you you can claim 45p a mile
So I have travelled 60 miles in a day so £27 then got 5hrs overtime for 3rows
It amazes me lol

What I would do in these circumstances would be to set of back to my own DO at about 1.30 assuming it was a 30 minute journey getting back for about 2 then having the last part of my break, obviously these times could change if it took longer to travel back and your break was longer
Good luck with whatever you decide to do

I am glad it worked for you,if you want to make it awkward for them I would start at your DO at your correct time then ask them to provide transport to the other office as you don't have to use your own car
