1 in 4 saturdays off still in force.
The manager at our DO is doing changes and they are talking about going back to 1 in 6 Saturdays off. We all get 1 in 4 Saturdays off now. and I wanted to know if this union agreement is still in force to this day even tho its a 2010 agreement. no one wants to go back to one in 6. I hope they just cannot give us 4 weeks notice and say now your all on 1 in 6 off.

Don't know the answer, but put up a fight, I dream of 1 in 4 Saturdays off, our office is 1 in 6 and as a reserve I get one in a blue moon
We're all here because we're not all there

The agreement is still in force yes for 1 in 4 but Royal Mail will do their best to get rid of them.
Rep/area rep need to be involved.

It's good to get these types of threads, the ridiculous my manager said bollox, so we can reassure ourselves that while the world is falling apart, Royal Mail managers are still being the low-life C***S they have always been.

The daily grind of having to argue your case with an intellectual pigmy of a line manager is physically and emotionally draining.

Hate to tell you this but if they dropped a day it would not be Saturday - more likely Tuesday

No it'll be Monday. Therefore Tuesday becomes like a heavy Monday in terms of mail volume.feduppostie wrote:comeracing wrote:don't worry we will be having every Saturday off soon, as mon-fri will be in force yipeeeeeeeeeeee 2 days off together = normal life.

You'll have a bare minimum of staff in on Monday to run SD's and tracked items and collections. Even losing one day from the USO would net phenomenal savings for the company, you're talking 1/6th of frontline delivery staff not needed.

Can you elaborate? Our office is trying to be pushed back into 1 in 6 Saturday's. Why would the delivery spans have to be reduced, (could use any info to put a spanner in the DOMs works).hans solo wrote:correct they would have to reduce delivery spans back to 3hrs 30 min

We have 1 in 6 Saturday's off and our deliveries are pretty much all 4 hours 15 minutes and longer (according to the computer, obviously in reality they often take longer). Don't understand why 1 in 6 would mean 3hr 30mins delivery.

You work longer hours to enable you to have the Saturday off, if they take the Saturday away your hours would be reduced but you can guarantee Monday & Tuesday would be the shorter daysRumple wrote:Can you elaborate? And I believe Moya Greene has herself stated that if she can get an agreement to cut a day she wants Monday or Tuesday.
She would only need a skeleton crew to do collections and specials/tracked 24's on the day she cuts.
Sometimes, I wish I wasn't a Rep.
