suspended from driving
We were told this morning if we have an accident even a small bump we are automatically off driving until they investigate it even if it is not our fault and this is a national agreement.is this true.

This raises more questions.
Are the people "investigating",trained in the art of collision investigation?
Who,carries out an "investigation?",
if it's the manager,is that before,or after,he has completed the lapsing, that we can't do? (Is that actually lapsing? )
How long does an "investigation" ,take?
How long are you suspended from driving for?
What's the process for getting back onto driving?
If, in the opinion of the "investigator", you are deemed to, "be at fault ",is this a matter for your personal record?
If you are deemed to "be at fault",and you believe otherwise, can you appeal?
Does it lead to conduct code?
If I pass "go", do I collect £200?
So many questions,so,little time.

Not in our office. We've had a few RTC's lately and not all opg taken off driving. Generally the more serious ones are suspended right away, might be for a couple of weeks and then get driver training and back they go.
I've not seen a LTB stating this, so as usual get rep and area rep involved.

It's good to get these types of threads, the ridiculous my manager said bollox, so we can reassure ourselves that while the world is falling apart, Royal Mail managers are still being the low-life C***S they have always been.

The daily grind of having to argue your case with an intellectual pigmy of a line manager is physically and emotionally draining.

I think its because they now hire new starts "with occasional driving" so it might be illegal and/or discriminatory if they paid the actual driver extra allowances just because they are doing the actual driving.
I may be wrong but if the CWU do ever try to bring in a driver's allowance again, that how I see RM knocking it back.

Much as drivers should be rewarded for their extra responsibility I doubt if bringing back the £6 a week driving allowance is high on the CWU's agenda for the current pay negotiations.TrueBlueTerrier wrote:I think its because they now hire new starts "with occasional driving" so it might be illegal and/or discriminatory if they paid the actual driver extra allowances just because they are doing the actual driving.
