Bullying. The way forward?
Managers who bully workers they are in charge of, to achieve bonus or make their life easier, are the scum of the earth as far as I am concerned. The way forward is not putting in a grievance or ringing the bullying hotline though. The way forward is for the CWU to use its might and funds to build a thorough dossier of evidence on these scumbags. Then employ the services of a Barrister to sue these people individually one by one in the civil courts. For their houses, their cars, compensation for their victims and even the hand made shirts off their back. After 30 or 40 of these people have publicly been through the courts, the rest, who only think of money and their career prospects, may well recalibrate their behaviour.

well said and totally agree the cwu should be doing more to stop this s**t , people shouldn't have to go to work everyday to put up with this just for the dom , dsm etc to save money on unachievable office budgets.danterossetti wrote:Managers who bully workers they are in charge of, to achieve bonus or make their life easier, are the scum of the earth as far as I am concerned. Bullying. The way forward?
The current procedure is not fit for purpose!
It is stacked in RMs favour. They get to play judge and jury on any decisions and our union allows it.
Investigating managers simply close ranks to protect their buddies.
How the union kow tows to this rigged system is a mystery to me, it is blatently unfair.
Our union are very quick at telling members to submit grievances, and even rock solid cases are dealt with by the most aggressive RM gestapo trained investigators to deny the obvious. It would make interesting reading the statistics of failed V proven cases. Little wonder people have such little faith in trying to get fairness in Royal Mail. We are seen as easy pickings and the bulling continues unabated.
A members pursuance of a ligitamate case is transformed from a valid case into a claimant left feeling THEY are the root cause of any problem, not RM managers. They piss people off and the bullying process only restarts if efforts to drop the case. Ah, for the solid backing from colleagues. The Thatcherite " I'm all right" posties stabbing each other's backs while doing RMs dirty work make me sick. They still run around with Blindfolds on, starting early etc, for a gold star and pat on the back. RM know this and unfortunately continue to put boot in, even more firmly as their recent future plans reveal.
Is there any time now left to put up a fight ?? RM look like the winners I'm afraid. With solidarity - well anything is possible.

Bullying and harassment in delivery offices thread stickied in this forum.
In recent months there has been an increase in the number of reports/queries coming into the department regarding bullying and harassment of our members in delivery offices. Stories of members feeling intimidated on a regular basis with most of this centring on members being forced to work beyond their time in order to complete deliveries or being accused of under performing or being slow. This type of approach will not be tolerated and we are currently gathering evidence from around the Country to raise this with Royal Mail at the highest level. If you have been or are subject to this or know someone who has or is please let the dept know by letter, or phone call or preferably by email to outdoorsecretary@cwu.org

It's good to get these types of threads, the ridiculous my manager said bollox, so we can reassure ourselves that while the world is falling apart, Royal Mail managers are still being the low-life C***S they have always been.

The daily grind of having to argue your case with an intellectual pigmy of a line manager is physically and emotionally draining.

you get fed up of hearing the members need to support the cwu on issues , which is fair enough and I always will . but the cwu need to support the members on an issue that goes on everyday inside delivery offices .

I think a lot of people who do get bullied by the managers are happy to moan on here but are more apprehensive about mentioning it outside of these virtual walls. Which is of course, perfectly understandable, but the union (or the courts or whoever else) can't help us if we don't ask them to. There do just need to be better avenues in place for people to file their grievances without fear of management finding out and just making their lives even harder.

Our leadership must be aware of our grass root problems, they choose to ignore it, in my opinion. Unfortunately local level support is not there to make an effective challenge to DOM level bullies. Units poorly represented- if at all, are loosing the battle at grass root level, IF it were any different the bulling would gave stopped a longtime ago. Our leaders need to lead, better advise and support delivery staff on our DAILY unchallenged problems. Some faith in them would then be restored
Chewster
Bullies will always target the weakest, it's the easy option.
That does not detract from the basic fact that a union should make it their priority to protect the most vulnerable.
Man up, make a stand ! Not easy without colleague support or dare I say the backing of our union.
We are burying our heads in the sand and wearing blinkers if our union does not act on the many problems that exist in delivery- they are far too common to pretend they do not exist as this forum constantly raises. The issues are laid bare, they are real and deserve SOME recognition even although they are raised within the walls of royalmailchat.

I'm working to become a dom. That's my goal.
And I want to do it and make a difference. I want to stand up against bullies. Is it possible to do this? To be a good dom? Without bullying.
Although I will always be criticised by both sides.
Have I just put myself in a firing line?
Is it possible to make a difference?
