Hi all,
I hope someone can answer a few questions please:
1. Lapsing- what are the rules regarding lapsing? Are we supposed to be taking out with us at the beginning of the day, before completing our own round, or should we be returning to the office to get it at the end of our own round?
2. Are DOM's permitted to do deliveries?

Putting it simply.
1. Ask your line manager what he prefers you to do.
2. Yes they can do it ( operational needs). Should they be doing it? Of course not.

Correct, ask the manager what they want you to do with lapsing i.e. take it and deliver prior to your own delivery or return to base and collect it to do afterwards...

If you have any doubt as to the ability to do the lapsing within contracted hours then ensure you have this discussion with management. If you don't have this discussion, there will be an assumption on their part that it is achievable and if you happen to go over your time, they could potentially refuse to pay you.

Lapsing should only ever be done within contracted hours if you have the capacity to do so. If yourself and the manager cannot agree as to the likelihood of it being achievable then ask your rep to step in, remain calm and tell manager that you are not refusing to do it, but you are not willing to work past your time as a result and that it may result in either the lapsing or part of your own delivery failing - and ask what they would like you to do in that event. Always have that conversation with a witness present (preferably your rep).

With everyone calling the union rep as witness, when do they get a chance of prepping their walk. maybe they should be giving time during IPS.
