One of the major problems in my office Ballymena, was part time staff working FULL TIME hours on a weekly , monthly and yearly basis , week in week out. Yet when it came to holiday pay and sick pay they where paid part time wages. IS THIS STILL THE CASE ? I am retired now so dont know if this is still the case.
I have come across a tribunal case which happened in Northern Ireland where an employee successfully won a case against his employer for paying him part time wages for holiday leave even though he worked full time hours on a voluntary basis. If this is still happening in Northern Ireland someone should open up a Grievance and force Royal Mail to start paying full time wages when on holidays. The same thing should also be extended to sick pay and someone should be raising this.
The case is not binding for England Scotland or Wales but if it could be won over here in Northern Ireland then it would have to be paid out across the UK as they couldnt discriminate.

Part Time Contract/Full Time Hours
It is still something Royal Mail rely on day in day out.
I am on a part time contract, took a duty on which incuded a new build in our area, all of which was agreed to be made up after trial period.
Didnt happen, been fighting it ever since, grievance submitted, not even acknowledged by management and had no response what so ever.
Union have been involved but seem to pass over my emails to them straight to manager and then hear nothing.
Would be good if this case would help put some weight on our cases in England. Will be looking into it, thanks for highlighting it :)

Unfortunately that's basically true. The CWU seem unwilling to take this up, goodness knows why, it's an utter outrage.Creditshampoo wrote:

Part Time Contract/Full Time Hours
Hi, so I can just contact them and try get them involved? And can they help upgrade to level 2 is that an internal thing by myself/union? I have been fighting it with the odd occasion I have managed to drag union in. I would rather get someone who is interested in helping me. ThanksCreditshampoo wrote:Hey. I suggest getting all part timers working full time hours in your office to do this. Also all working contract hours each week say just for one day like a Wednesday for example would also put pressure on the business.

I've been working full time hours for the past 14 months as a PT, with the promise of a FT contract, it never comes.
