Got confronted by a neighbour on my way home today, who said that a form left had been put through her door for a special. She was in at the time, but the bell hadn't been rung or door knocked. I believe her and wonder if this is a tactic used by runners to save time. oh and guess what? No postie signature or number. if you think about it a lot of time could be saved by pushing form lefts (that had been filled in by the non-driver) through doors rather than ringing a door bell, waiting, trying a neighbour etc etc. Does this happen in other offices?
How much worse can it get? A LOT F****** WORSE !!!

So rather than chap the door get packets delivered a postie would stand and write out a card, carry item around with them, then fill out 739 sticker before placing it on parcel and returning to DO, yep I can see how that would save time, Imo the neighbour hasn't heard the door.
Specials don't go to neighbours.

Even I know that specials don't go to neighbours! I was refering to packets in general. Also as a postie I've not got much time for the public, but I do believe the neighbour and she did show me the form left with no details of who left it.

In my office 99% of them has p739 card pre wrote and banded up around the packets/letters etc ready for whacking in the door its bang out of order and should be stopped that way the callers office would see a reduction on items brought back. I personally give the customer the opportunity to get to the door..

Surely, all the time saved will be wasted filling out the p379s in the first place??

Have you ever had the same said about you because i have. She may have been in the garden, hovering, listening to music, showering or like me just hard of hearing. Mind you one of our guys 739d a S/D just poking it in not through the letterbox and the bloke was painting the hallway and saw it then him hot foot it back to the van, of course another postie was sent out to do it after he complained not the lazy so and so who did it. That was some time ago but i am sure it still goes on why i do not know.

Yes but if they write out the 739's before they go out (probably in their own time
) They think they have had a result finishing early, and who suffers ? Postie who does the job correctly and the customer. Bizzare behaviour will result in lost jobs and customers!! Well done in the race to the bottom.

Until we all realise that job and finish has gone this problem will continue.
Why rush around to make time ?? The only benefactor is RM, in giving them more scope to remove office hours, loose FT jobs AND put even more pressure on the OPGs who do the job properly.
RM want first attempt delivery. They do not accept there is TIME consequences, in using THEIR mandatory methods and delivery to neighbour policy. Why would/should WE accept to flack ?
It always come back to same old argument, that runners just cannot see the wood for the trees.
RM are more than happy to have these brain dead twats aboard and allow them to pressurise all others.
When, oh when are they going to learn a simple lesson that even 5 year olds would understand!

I wouldn't believe a word the customers say. As has already been said on here why would anyone want to carry a parcel/SD/tracked round with them? It's far easier to get rid of it.
I've knocked on doors (and people have told me I knock too loud at times) and people have come running down the street with a 739 in their hand saying I didn't knock on the door. Half the time they're on the phone or messing about upstairs and think you'll still be there when they've finished and get angry when you aren't so accuse you of not knocking.

Who on earth writes out dozens and dozens of 739 cards to 'save time'?

It might have been possible in the old days when you maybe had half a dozen parcels for your entire delivery but the idea of posties having the time or the inclination to write out maybe 30-50 p739s for a delivery knowing that half of them will be wasted effort is quite frankly ridiculous. I'm calling this out as bullshit, there may be some sad individuals who do this but 99% of an office? Nah.
I've seen some serious fence jumping morons in my time but even they couldn't be arsed with this. It's almost always the customer who wasn't really in/in the bath/got the music turned up to 11 or just couldn't be bothered getting out of bed.

Strange how customers can never hear the door bell & you banging on the door, but they can hear the letterbox flap at 200 metres!
Suddenly they'll fling the door open and say something stupid like, "Oh I didn't hear you knocking... have you got a parcel for me"?
I'm sure they must be expecting a visit from the Baliffs, and they were going to pretend noone's in.

I cant totally understand a postie doing that on a rural delivery. Doesnt want to drive down the driveway to knock on the door... so posts a car through.
But the idea of pre writing a card? Surely its easier to just knock at the door?

Totally disagree with this comment, if the postman couldn't be arsed driving down the driveway & left a card the chances are the owner would take the box away & postman would have to drive down everyday.catch22 wrote:I cant totally understand a postie doing that on a rural delivery.
