Hi everyone,
I am off work at the moment due to some ongoing dispute with myself and the management of my office, the absence is being recorded as unauthorised and I am not getting paid. I have not received any letters through the post regarding my absence.
My question relates to the stoppage of my pay, are the managers allowed to make the decision to stop my pay instantly, or is there some formal process that needs to be followed first, for example; does a letter need to be sent to my address notifying me of the intention to stop my pay before they actually withold the money.

Your Contract of Employment is basically the relationship between the employer and the employee and they give you a remuneration in return for the service you give to them. You have broken this relation by withdrawing your labour and have no document to cover your absence by means of a GP " Fit Note". Due to no medical certificate being produced RM have taken the view and rightly so that you not being available to work this absence is unauthorised and with possible charges of AWOL or Abandonment of Duty being considered and therefore the stoppage of wages would be the correct action to take in view of the circumstances. Not knowing the specific reason of your dispute with management or if you have involved your union rep in the decision that you have taken but I am surprised that at the time of your posting you have received no correspondence from RM. If you are a union member I strongly suggest that you involve your union rep before the stoppage of wages becomes employment terminated.Runningback wrote:Hi everyone,
