In some offices,it seems that's all they do,along with delivery,so why do we need managers, may one ask and why do we lapse, when it's covered by managers,so it isn't lapsing.
By the way what happened to "getting managers off delivery",as promised by Sue Whalley, seems to me they do more delivery than ever, probably due to the number of vacancies.

There is nothing specific you can point at to stop them. But no it shouldn't be happening and it's presenting a false level of efficiency. The rep could raise it a meeting with the DOM for that same reason, and that it affects the earning opportunities of OPG staff, but ultimately the local members can do the best thing by supporting a point of disagreement, or perhaps even stopping prepping/sorting when a manager does OPG work.

What about DOM support prepping rounds? Is that ok or frowned upon?

DOM Support are OPG grades so technically I suppose it would be okay.

Same at our place. We have lapsing plans and a lot of us really don't have the time to do it. Part of this is because of the reduced numbers of full-timers now doing increased indoor workloads as per the work plan. So we then witness managers both prepping and going out delivering it. As far as false efficiency goes, it really is as bad as those who come in to work an hour early and work for free. What sort of example are these managers setting?? Is it any wonder complaints are up. I mean, do the managers really report on the mistakes that they have made
On the face of it, shareholder value is the dumbest idea in the world.

Hi trueblue, I registered a disagreement last year and managers stopped prep/ips work in our office now it's started again, I threatened a disagreement at this week's si meeting and the manager was happy for me to do so. I think they are that desperate to get these savings anyway possible they aren't worried about any repercussions. You say we could stop prep/ips work when they perform any prep or ips work themselves?? Is this definitely allowed?? Can managers take action against us if we do?? Thanks trueblue

No its not allowed - its classed as Unofficial Industrial Action and you can be sacked for it. However, Direct Action is sometimes the only response, if you think the cause is strong enough it can be worth going for.

It IS high risk though.
