YDS Trainer Supply Issues

Dear Colleagues

We have been informed by Royal Mail that as a result of the factory which produces the YDS trainers failing a CSR audit, a decision by the company has been made not to order any further trainers from YDS.

As a result Royal Mail has stated they are now starting to see shortfalls in some popular sizes in the remaining YDS stock and as such are waiting on delivery of the replacement trainers they have ordered from Magnum and Panther.

They have also ordered additional Anvils to help with any shortfall, however are aware that the YDS are a popular option for our members.

As such Royal Mail has issued the below communication through their internal channels:

Due to a number of compliance issues identified in a recent audit at the factory where our YDS trainers are manufactured, Royal Mail has taken the difficult decision to cease placing any further orders with the supplier. We are currently trialling a new trainer, with similar features and benefits to the YDS, which will be available in the Spring.

If you need a pair of replacement trainers before that time, and your size is unavailable (we only have limited stock of YDS footwear) you will need to order an alternative style. You can order these, as usual, online.

If you have exceeded your current footwear entitlement we will provide Magnum shoes, unless you have a specific reason why these should not be provided.

We will update you when the new models arrive and, in the meantime, please accept our apologies for any inconvenience this may cause in the interim.

Further meetings with Royal Mail are being arranged to discuss this matter and the future provision of Uniform across all products.

well ive been waiting over 7-8 weeks for a pair of these and they are the only shoes that I can wear without any issues , so what do I do now ? because my others are knackered no tread , split , so what I will say is when the weather is bad I will not go out on delivery , simple.

they actually kept one of our guys inside couple of weeks ago due to worn shoes but he cuts offs and mgmt were trying to piss him off
i then went round everyone and told them all with worn shoes they couldnt go out on delivery

You could wear magnum shoes and lose any credibility you have ever had, ,or likely to have ,if your mates see you.
They have to be the worst shoes ever for grip etc. Surely they can do better than this ,there are so many good shoe manufacturers ,in this country who could provide decent footwear,even Magnum have better stuff in their range.

What on earth is a CSR audit??

Corporate Social Responsibility. Those YDS shoes were made in Turkey if I recall, meaning they probably had kids working on them in the factory hence failed the audit.

If you get a dr's note for your own trainers are you covered by RM's health and safety as you would with official uniform? What if you hurt your feet in non rm official footwear?

Yes as there are specific rules as to what footwear you should get (some sort of BS/ES standard), and the manager as a representative for RM should risk assess them. Ergo you are covered.

Great thanks, I got the Dr's approval and left it in for my manager. What do I do now? Do I get a voucher or do I have to bring in print outs of the shoes to see if they are ok?

Any suggestions? Waterproof while light and comfortable would be good lol

Can't recommend any as I wear RMs stuff. However as long as it has good ankle support and a hard wearing sole with decent tread depth you cant go wrong.

Buy them, give the DOM the receipt and claim, thats it.
