I contacted my local office, wasn't an issue and went down from 40 to 30 hours. Not sure about the buy down thing.

If your work history is good i would phone office's in your preferred area ,Glasgow apc always looking for staff ,not sure what hours or contracts available good luck

Hi mate, no you should n't have to go through all that again.

If you know the name of the DOM at the the office you want to work at, try calling HR to get his number.

You can get the name of DOM from the successfactors site ( just go into Company info, and then directory, and fill in the search criteria accordingly, you may even be able to email the manager from there)

Sort of a side note but what sort of success have people had transferring and keeping ft hours?
Know it's possible as we've had folk come in, just curious how common it is.

I contacted the office I wanted to move to, took a while but I managed to get moved on full time hours

Probaly near impossible to do that now though

From what have heard the only way it can happen now, is if you apply for a transfer and a full-timer is about to leave that office.

A mate of mine transferred down to SE coast of England and had to move to PT hours from FT here, After 6 months a FT vacancy was advertised and my mate got it due to his seniority.

Does your current manager need to agree to a transfer or is it a done deal if another office are happy to have you?

Just for the record when applying for a transfer you should always go through the union.
I believe (someone correct me if i'm wrong) that royal mail can't hire externally if someone internally has applied for a vacancy.
Also your union rep as was in my case is able to provide you with information on the state of the office you want to transfer to.

In my case my preferred office is undergoing a revision currently but, my union rep was able to make a few calls and offer me an alternative office that currently has vacancies.
